Dont think that Buell was the first company to make rim mounted brakes.

It's not a new idea in concept, the way that it is implemented in the Buell design is a bit more advanced though.

In all fairness, the builder used two calipers and managed to make it work with a Marchesini wheel. Pretty trick.
