Hi guys.....just bought a new xb9sx (200 miles) ...and it started to have a problem..
a real strange/lound sound coming from the bike's front .....at the same time i have this sound..i have all the electric lights failing together with that sound ..... seems to happen when i move the front wheel...and at low rpm's ...a friend of mine said that hd already knew about that problem...does anyone know what problem is that and can explain to me?
i already left the bike at hd...but they are not very competent so if i know what's the problem and tell them would be better..since it doesnt happen all the time..i couldnt show them..

sorry for my bad english...i couldnt express myselft what really is happening...
im a bit sad coz its a new bike.. : (

Marco, se quiseres ajuda em traduzir para inglês, eu não me importo de te ajudar - é só pedir. Usa o meu endereço pessoal.

Oops, forgot to translate that into English. I just told him that I wouldn't mind to translate any questions he had.

Put an extra washer on your battery terminals and TORQUE THEM down to about 17 pounds, use blue loc-tite. It is vitally important to make sure your battery connections are clean and tight. Even if they are only a little loose, it can cause a LOT of problems that seem like something else.

If the problem persists, let us know.

Check the stator to voltage regulator connection being discussed on one of the other threads right now. It's fixed at least three bikes so far...

sub65chris , does yours also give you a loud strange sound? like its a short-circuit ....? or something stuck at the engine? when i get this sound all the lights go down and up...doesnt happen all the time..but when i move the handlebar ......
a guy told me that could be something at the starter solenoid...

Seem's to me that the electrical system on a xb9sx is not trouble free.
My City-X 2006 suffered from:
- mass problem, resulting in error codes and stalling the engine.
- no charging of battery caused by bad stator.
- some minor problems with speedometer.
all where repaired under full warranty.

Since BUELL'S are so much fun driving, I almost had forgotten and forgiven these minor problems.

Friend of mine had faulty regulator, overcharged the battery and caused speedo problems, 2005 XB9SX.

Bought my CityX in April Fan went bad at 50 miles and the banjo bolt for front brake was loose dripped brake fluid on the airbox and ate away at it. tightened the bolt and replaced airbox and Fan all is well at 1000 mi. all done under warranty.

Mtsm,
It sounds like you may have a break in a wire somewhere around the steering head, and when you turn the bars, it is causing a short somewhere.
My suggestion to the dealer would be to tear down the front of the bike and replace ALL of the wiring up there.
If they refuse, remind them that the mixture of fuel and sparks could cause you issues... really hot burning issues.
