I would have welded it with my MIG, but if it were mine it would have been a bad wreck that made me do a back flip....probably wouldn't have had a bike to weld on!

Kevin,

I can do that. I'll call you. Need to catch you there some Saturday AM. If you're planning on being there that would be very cool, but I don't want to be the reason that you are there on a weekend -- that would suck.

Cdnite,

'bout how high off the ground did you get?

Why did you bail?

Did you use a stock set up or did you make mods to your suspension?

In your opinion, how did the weight of the bike factor in to what happened (if at all)?

Not advocating, just curious.

I got about 10-15 feet or so off the ramp. Since the bike is short and the rear wheel has got some mass the bike rotated really quick, it rather surprised me.

I went in to it at about half throttle about 3krpm 2nd gear I think and as I hit the ramp I pegged it and pulled back hard. This got the front wheel up quick and I had half rotated way before I was at the peak of my jump.

At that point I looked over my back and saw I was going to over shoot my landing and couldn’t tell if I was going to complete the rotation. So I kicked off hard, the bike totally stopped rotating and I ended up on the table.

The bike landed totally inverted, I thought it was toast, but and I said earlier just the front fairing and gauge bracket and the upper mounting points for the seat frame broke. And the plastic hardly got scratched.

The bike is totally stock, since I was planning on landing on the down side of the table I didn’t think I needed any more travel than the bike has already got. The shock is firm and would have cushioned just fine.

Plus this wasn’t planned at all. Just a bunch of stupid guys talking shit and like always someone calls BS and then it’s on. Luckily I didn’t get hurt and the bike isn’t totaled.

If I was a few years younger and had a never ending budget I would try again. But as everyday goes by I feel my body getting older and my survival instinct getting stronger (smarter too). I’m going to leave the X games stunts to a younger generation and just enjoy my bike when I get it fixed.

And as many of you said, yes it was stupid… so is sitting on thousands of tons of rocket fuel, but that’s the only way we got to the moon… so is doing 100mph on the highway and all of you have done that.

Don’t be mad at me because you didn’t think of it or have the balls to try it. And if you do try it (please don't) please wear all the safety gear you can find and know what you’re doing!

Dude, that's pretty awesome. Sucks you smashed the bike, but it sucks more that you didn't land it. Yeah, it was dumb and all, but hell, if you are ballsy enough to try it, you at least deserve to nail it.
