in some photos the sunset looks kinda red, but it really isn't in person if you ask me. You gotta see it for yourself to judge, but it really looks orange to me.

When I bought my Long in the spring I thought I wanted sunset orange but when I saw it under the flourecent lighting in the showroom it was very pink. It scared me away. I bought the blue. This color changes drastically under different lighting. It's definitely not red.

Depending on the way the light hits the cherry bomb...it looks anywhere from fire engine red, to maroon to purple at times. I love it.

Pwnzor,

Check with this guy, he bought it (although not pictured in profile): khryzthyan

He's in our Brag group.
Could be an '06 for all I know.

That looks like a Sunset Orange Long Ss like mine... check out this thread. It even explains the color a bit. Might be a regular 12S with the Sunset body work though. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/235515.html?1161740689

No... that is a regular 12S. The seat and frame give it away. I'm sure that's Sunset Orange bodywork though. Mine can look very red depending on the light.

Actually, I think that IS a Long, just with a low seat. The frame is the right color. Matches mine perfectly. Notice the magnesium-colored primary cover.

Sunset Orange really does look red, just a warmer red than Cherry Bomb. It's like comparing Candy Apple Red to Flame Red. I've never seen Sunset look orange under any lighting condition.

Swordsman - Where can you get a low seat for an Ss? I haven't been able to find one.

The crease in the frame just behind the pucks on this one are straight vertical, long frames are at an angle and the pucks are taller/skinnier looking too.

Also the passenger pegs are mounted closer to the front on this one.

Every Sunset Orange I've ever seen in person has been VERY orange. It looks red to me in the picture and was the color I wanted 'til I saw it was orange in person. YMMV.

Forerunner... The Sunset looks very red on overcast days... people think my Ss is red and not orange, but when I tell them the color is "Sunset Orange" they will say... Oh yeah, I guess it does look kinda orange. Or, it looks very orange sometimes. It all depends on the light. Mine can look red just like that small photo up there.

I agree... that does indeed look to be a regular 12S based on the frame and pucks, etc.

If you look at the link I provided... it shows how drastic a change the color can take depending on the light. Red to orange-red to red-orange to orange. I have some pics on my home computer of mine that look very red, the camera caught what my eye was seeing.

Sunset Orange SS 2006 model, matching wheels (this is the one you are speaking of I think). Cherry Bomb S 2007 model, matching wheels.

Put those Sunset Orange rims on a black bike and they'll look red, but like Swordsman said:
"It's like comparing Candy Apple Red to Flame Red."

I apparently like orange too. Didn't realize it until I bought my bike (Valencia Orange plastics). What sucks is the lack of orange helmets and leathers.

45_degrees - I don't doubt for an instant that the Sunset Orange can look very red.

Was just mentioning from my(admittedly limited) experience it had always looked orange, hence the YMMV.

Great color and the only Ss in '06 that had color matched wheels. I just ended up going w/black.

Rasmonis - What I always thought would be neat is if the bike came w/matching Valencia Orange front fender and chin spoilers from the factory.

I'm sure that plastic color would be tough to mix, but a great opportunity for the aftermarket...

Sunset oranges looks VERY orange... it has to be just the right lighting for it look red. It looks especially orange next to a red bike.

Forerunner,

One of the Queensryche bikes had a Valencia Orange fender - didn't check out the spoiler as I was too busy admiring the rest of the bike!

Personally, I think it would be super-cool to see an XBR in translucent plastics (any of the available colors).
