Just got my Special OPS installed... Thanks Odie! Installed a Forcewinder air-filter at the same time. I decided to paint the muffler to match my bike and I think it looks good! The paint I used is Dupli-Color 500 degree ceramic enamel for engines... bought Chevrolet Orange-red and Ford red to experiment with. Went with the Ford red 'cause it matches so close it's very difficult to tell... maybe just a shade darker. I even think it will lighten up a bit as it cures with the heat. The paint is working very well so far.

I think the orange muffler balances out the look of the the orange Long.

And the improved performance is great! Love the sound coming from the dual outlets! My bike lifts the front wheel much more easily now (with just throttle), and shoves the rear tire out sideways for fishtailing more easily too and in a very controllable fashion. I live at an altitude of around 4600 ft., so this setup has really let my bike breathe a lot better!

It's a whole new beast with the OPS muffler, and I've noticed that tons more people are gawking even more at my bike now with the improved sound... gets their immediate attention. I need to be even more careful now though, 'cause the first time out with the OPS I got noticed by the Law... not because of the sound, but because the officer witnessed my huge wheelie I rode going down the road with my new-found power! Never said it sounded too loud. Luckily the cop was super nice and just gave me a warning and was actually more interested in the bike more than anything! Haha. Buells Rule!

Can't get the grin off my face!

Next thing I'm thinking of doing is maybe chopping the ol' "cheese grater" tail off.

Nice bike BTW.

Thanks! It would lift the wheel with throttle... but at this altitude it required just the right input and technique. Now it's just goose it and up it goes! At sea level I bet the stock setup would be yanking it's wheel up all the time without much effort. And for me, with the stock setup and just a little clutch english (hardly any) the front wheel would go skyward in an instant. Be careful.

Nice job on the pipe. I don't think I've ever seen that done before.

Thanks guys for your comments! Thanks in advance too! Yeah, I haven't seen anyone do this before. I was wondering. Maybe I am the first? That would be cool! Here are some better pics.

I included a couple of pics that show how the Sunset Orange changes in different light conditions. Very Red looking on overcast days... "Orangey" during sunset and under gas station florescent lights... very orange! Also note how the engine paint matches so well to the color! And the engine paint changes color according to light just like the plastic does.

Maybe the muffler color helps the engine make more power? Haha! "Firecracker" Special OPS. It sure has a nice "bark" and "crack" to it. Very mean sounding.

No trend there. Black XB's already come with a black exhaust

Haha... I would say black is a shade though, not a color.

I think the Chrysler or Buick engine red might match the red Buells.

Me first Buell was black. Then I painted it silver with the silver race muffler. I got tired of the shades... the color makes it more fun to me.

These are before it had a race muffler... my buddy owns this one now. The lower fairing is still black to match the muffler. And shortly before I sold it I went back to black for the flyscreen. So it was silver and black.

Both of these bikes look great guys! I love that every one of us has a different look. I've spent quite a bit of time just looking at everyone's pics.

I'll go take some pics of mine tomorrow and post back here. Since I'm a newbie to the site, I would imagine you guys want to see what I've got.

As for the low altitude throttle wheelies, I can speak to that. I live near Houston, TX at an elevation of approximately 300 ft. above sea level. When it was stock it would pull the front wheel off the ground through third gear. Now I've got a complete race kit and it'll come completely over on it's back if you give it everything it's got (even at a rolling start). Admittedly I only weight 150 lbs, but it's still pleasingly torquey. Looking for more though...

Hey 45deg, looks awesome! I'm also thinking of doing the same thing with mine (except yellow.) The ceramic PC on my race pipe is starting to get a little rust. I'm just curious how anybody thinks the gloss will hold up with the heat? It looks great man.

That looks really good... I like the way it matches the lower 'plastic' and wheels...
Oh, and I second the motion about the OPS pipe, I like mine a lot also. I get compliments on it's sound all the time and I like the way it runs...: )
