I decided to just grab a few peices of hardware at Lowes and make my own camera mount. I still needs to be shortened, and use a foam type washer instead or a hard rubber one. But this one will do for what I want it for. I just screw my Canon Elph on top and go. Just screw teh camera on and tighten it up with the wingnut. If anyone is interested, just use 1/4" thread hardware.

Here is the video with it. If I shorten it some and get some better washers, it should keep the vibration down. But not having a windscreen to protect it, its always going to be a little jumpy. And I took my time on this ride, dont flame me for going so slow!

Good idea
Video wasn't bad quality for having such a tall stem.
I don't think you were going "below the speed limit"...

Nice thinking.

My samsung a7 shuts off in video mode when I try to use it to take video on the bike... vibes i think...

Screw a mustang! haha. The video look much better on my puter as opposed to over the internet. I am going to use my dremel and shorten it. But without a windscreen, it will never look perfect. But its not bad for just a digital camera.

Where I turned around at was at a ferry. Ill get a video of me going across it, its a cool ride. Twistie road, short ferry ride, little country delis. And its right by my house!

I did a similar mount with the old mickey mouse mirror, put a threaded rod in the mirror mount and tightened away.

I rattled my pals cam to death, all the screws came out and it fell apart!!!!

We also had problems with it stopping recording while under heavy load and high rpm, I think the ignition system was screwing with the camera.

Altima,
I noticed you're from the Lexington area...I spend a lot of time in the RRG and have been meaning to bring the bike down there for a combo climbing/riding trip...lot's of nice roads in that area. Do you have any favorites?

That was out Tates Creek. Out richmond Rd to the river is also nice. Pretty much all the roads outside of Lexington, because even if they are twisty, the scenery is amazing. : )

As long as the stalk is, I thought it did a great job. You're quite the fabricator. And it didn't look like you were going that slow to me. I did notice the wheelie when you first took off. Kudos.

Nice video but next time lose the background music. A v-twin makes its own.

When I saved the file, you could clearly hear the engine just fine. But now when you watch it through photobucket, you can't hear it. The reason I put the music it was because I forgot to cover the microphone and the wind noise sounds like crap.

Reading this thread inspired me to make a camera mount myself with Home depot parts and the bottom portion of the stock mirror mount.

I still need to test, but I think it will work OK.

Thanks for the great idea Altimo02. You saved me $30 bucks.

Hey Altima-
I recognized that road 10 seconds into your run. Holy crap, I ride that same stretch all the time (down to the ferry.) It is a good ride although I don't think I've ever been lucky enough to ride it with so little traffic. Hwy 68 toward Harrodsburg is nice down by the river but I ALWAYS get stuck behind some grandma doing 25mph. ALWAYS. [if anybody ask's why I don't just pass said grandma, they've never been on that road.]

PM me sometime we can go riding together. I wonder if two yellow buells riding together would be Odd?

Cool.
I was wondering about buying a small camera to plug into my video camera.
That way I can put the video camera in my backpack.
I would be worried about a stone coming up and smashing it.

Norrie.

I think I saw a wheel stand at the beginning of that video. How dare you ride so reckless!

XBswede, that looks like a great mount. I was originally going to use the mirror mount. Great idea!

I posted another video here. I was doing much faster, but the video slows down. O well.
