It was a yahoo group - sort of a board, but they are more of just an email group - send one email and everyone in the group gets it.

You can go to the site to "post" but I've found it to be more effecting just subscribing to it in your preferred email client.

We have a rider's group at work on google that we send ride info emails to or just funny pics, that sort of thing. Forums are much better for organizing and storing long term content.

If it's the one I was a member of, it NEEDED to be shut down. Every post had to be approved by the moderator, and he sometimes took a week or so to update. Posts could take DAYS to even show up. Not real handy when you've got questions about your ride. I imagine that's why he had no traffic... it's the reason I left.

Maybe I'll start a new one!

Nah, we have BadWeb for that.

I was a member of this group. Some of the sections had some good information. I logged on yesterday right after reading this and it was already deleted. Damn that sucks. I wanted to copy a lot of the info that was on that group but I cant get it now. Oh well.

Most of the info that was there, came from here.
I was a member there back in '03, but it got old fast, the reason the moderator had to moderate the posts, was because there was a lot being posted that was plain and simply crap.
BadWeB has Blake, and the custodians, makes moderating much easier when you share the load.

Only new members' posts were moderated, but the big problem was the d-e-l-a-y Yahoo imposed to have the posts meet their expectations of proper decorum. The mods checked things daily, as a rule. But some postings took WAY TOO LONG to get on the site. Yahoo needs to work on that.

Yoinan, sorry you couldn't get what you needed before I shut it down.

Some stuff came from BadWeb but much was gained from many Internet and magazine sources, including my weekly trips to the Buell dealer and talks with my Buell salesguy, tech, and owner (Russ Tom, R.I.P.).

But passions change and I don't go to the dealer very often. Plus, the newness of the XB models has worn off. My '03 XB9S is the best cycle I've ever owned but I don't ride it as often as I used to.

Traffic was way down, from over 200 posts per month down to less than 40 recently. It was a no-brainer to shut it down.

The other owner/moderator Bonesbuell (Steve Mc) did a fabulous job as co-owner and moderator. But his interest trailed off as much as mine.

We did scoop BadWeb a few times but competition was never the purpose. Just a smaller pond to swim in, it was.

So, for those of you who were active on the site, thanks for your involvement! Keep riding and posting on this #1 Buell site.
