I have seen it up close at American Sport Bike and it is very cool. Had I surplus of cash it would have been mine.

I would avoid riding in rain with it.

I like it alot. Fresh cool air is a big plus on these air cooled motors.

But, for a daily driver, rain/water would be a big minus.

Big plus on the way the carbon looks tho!

I think the fairing would block 99% of the rain. Even if it didn't... That's what the filter is for. I don't think you'd be getting much water in the intake if any at all.

Yeah, I know that rain might be a concern. I'm more interested in if it's worth it from a performance point of view, as opposed to using the new '07 airbox cover with a K&N. Also, wondering about the intake sound?

Rain isn't an issue with it, though I do suggest putting a weep hole in the lower left corner of the lower airbox so that it can't accumulate there.

The nostrils don't allow as much water to the air filter as the old tube frame buell oval air cleaners. I've ridden with both in pouring rain and never had as much as a hiccup.

I do suggest that after a sustained ride in a hard rain, it's probably a good idea to re-oil the K&N air filter.
The 07 airboxes are certainly a step in the right direction. I haven't A-B dyno tested that configuration. In the 03 configuration is was good for 1-2 ponies.
