I've started buying parts from Dave at Appleton HD for my 12SS-Uly project but I have also been looking for some used parts to reduce the cost. It surprises me that very few Uly parts seem to be available on E-bay and I've only had 1 response to my post in the parts wanted section. Are there any bone yards that carry a fair amount of Buells, where do the wrecked bikes go? Any good sources would be appreciated.

I agree that Uly parts bikes are scarce right now. You'll find a fair amount of XB9R/XB12R because they were made for several years now and the folks, before frame pucks, would down them relatively fast and they'd become salvage titled.

I think the ULY is going to be like the BMW R1150GS in looking for used parts. Though the GS has still been made longer than the Uly at this point.

You have to contact the insurance companies and the dealers that they use to get estimates so they can make repair or salvage decisions. If you don't have a dealer or insurance company who will work with you then you're stuck cruising E-Bay, Cycletrader and Craigslist looking for parts

That is fine if your near Stillwater, MN. Middle of Nowhere (not meant to offend).

Where are more salvage places that deal with the public and not just dealers?

This seems to be a world-wide mystery. 3 months ago I was looking for trivial bits like indicators and the like and had a fair bit of time on my hands to find them via a mate at a wreckers and his resources. Long story short there turned out to be ONE 12R that had burnt in an accident and was minus the engine. Most dealers/wreckers talk of a fair few of them being binned quite badly but no-one knows where they go..........
