The problem with everyone looking the same....is there is only so many vendors who make quality sport riding apparel. Lets face it you get 50 guys together....there is maybe 10 decent riding apparel vendors so you have a pretty good chance you will have the same clothing as someone else. Now at our last brag ride three of us showed up...each dressed very differently......The Hog guys were all dressed very similarlly in black leather, no helmet.

I got a kick out of the people lined up at the easy riders get together buying 69 dollar chaps........The positive side of this was the young ladys in thongs and chaps

Mainstreamer - I lost track of this posting but I never forgot I owed you an answer... Sorry it took so long!

You wrote:

Tunes, if you talk to the folks at the dealership that work in the clothing department they should be able to order you anything you want. If you don't get satisfaction from the sales clerk ask to speak to the department manager. This seems to work for me most of the time.

This might help to break that "cause & affect" cycle you mentioned.

I have mentioned their lack of apparel... and they keep saying they order it but then it doesn't sell... I usually wind up talking to yet another person in the department. And you are quite correct that I can order it. I'm the type that needs to see, feel, and if necessary, try on the garment. I haven't had much luck ordering clothes/garments. Sizes vary drastically.

Our local "Buell guy at the dealership" changed dealership addresses and took all the goodies he always had on display with him, 65 miles away. So it pains me to see the same dealership commitment change so drastically because 1 employee leaves. Yes, I know we have discussed this subject at length and I'm not opening this can... After he left, they had nothing for quite awhile, so I guess I shouldn't complain. At least they have a small display of Buell apparel. (Buell Parts/Accessories display is tiny.) The end all is, I need to handle the merchandise before a purchase.

I can't complain about their Buell bike display though. It's immediately in front of you when you walk in the front door.

Hows this. One dealership near me has some Buell clothing on the rack including shirts with their logo on one side and Buell on the other. I'd actually buy one of these but they only have a bunch in XXL. I don't know about the general Buell population but I'm a medium and most people I know who own a Buell wear a medium. I realize many Harley riders are fat so it makes sense to carry bigger sizes for HD gear. I talked to two people at the boutique about this and they agreed I had a good point but they won't be ordering any more Buell apparel for a year or more because it just doesn't sell. The only real Buell shirt I have came from and DaveS when I was in Appleton where they actually have clothes on the wall.

(picking can opener up)

maybe if the shirt designs weren't so LAME the stuff would sell.

(putting the can opener back in the drawer)

One of my favorite threads on here was all the previous T Shirt designs from before I got my Buell.

Hey Cold,

I'd love to have some XXL shirts here. All our dealer stocks is small and medium. Funny thing is they say in their reply why they don't stock more shirts is that the larger sizes are gone pretty quick when a new shipment comes in.

They are merchandising and marketing geniuses.

I have to remind myself these are the same people who dealer swapped away 2 black Ulys for 2 Sportsters, 1 week before they had their '2007 model parade'. The only Buell in the parade was an '05 Blast.

Sorry I'm done for now.

Toona - I was enjoying the history of Buell as told through t-shirts thread that was rolling for a while too.

I'd rather BMC spend their money designing cool bikes than cool t-shirts if we had to choose between the two.

Diablo, I agree with the designing cool bikes more than cool gear as well, but me thinks they have different designers for each of their respective fields.

Heck, even if they could deliver the gear (i.e. race apparel) on the website, that would be a plus...

I'm certain that there are different designers, but the resources they have to spend are finite.
With R&D, advertising, production, and customer service being the major divisions of BMC they
really don't have the HUGE motorclothes division that H-D does because the market for Buell t-shirts
does not bring in more income than actual Buells which I suspect is the case for H-D.

I want a "I own a Buell, not just a t-shirt" t-shirt! You don't see non-riders
collecting Buell gear like all the H-D wannabes. Our local dealer opened a shop at the mall for the
Christmas season so people wouldn't have to go to an actual dealership to get the paraphenallia. (as if the
merchandise wasn't already in every shop in the mall to begin with) Meanwhile their Buell section at the
dealership has 4 shirts and a couple of hats. No wonder I buy most stuff from the
sponsors here.

I just buy whatever is functional and isn't a rip off price. I just bought a Tour Master Leather jacket. Full armor and pretty thick leather for just $125 on clearance. I also bought pants for about the same price, textile and armor too.

The leather jacket is pretty comparable to a $600 Harley jacket.

As for Buell products, Gettysburg seems to keep a decent amount in stock. Nothing major, but more than I have seen at any other location. Lancaster on the other hand hand has one little rack with shirts on it and that's it.

I wear my Buell gear almost everyday. Our CEO asked if I had gotten a job @ Buell. Other employees tell me I look like a maintenance tech. I used to wear "a.i." branded stuff until I got my bike - the Buell stuff is way cooler IMO...

Oh well, I guess I'm just a Buell junkie. It's freakin' sad I know...

I want a "I own a Buell, not just a t-shirt" t-shirt!

K wears her Buell stuff too and several times guys have approached her about it, thinking she doesn't know crap. She told me they got real quiet once they realized she owns and rides her own Buell XB9S. They get kind of meek and all. ass-wipes.

Yeah it's a shame we're not taken care of by the dealerships. I've spent thousands on gear and upgrades for my bike, and every penny went to some .com in another state somewhere. I even buy my tires online because the locals can't touch the prices.

My local Buell dealer (downtown HD) has also resorted to putting their logo on. Since they seem to give me something every-time I go in, I have a closet full of them. I will have to say I wear a medium, and I have found most of Buell's stuff to run small.
