How much of an improvement are these things over stock? I don't ride my bike at all at night because I cant see the ground well enough. Will these solve that problem? I am currently running the Sylvania 100 watt H3. The Silverstars are 19.99 a pop and I don't want to waste the money if there will be no improvement. |

It's like night n day, I ran 5 sets of them through my bike before I replaced the voltage regulator that kept blowing them. You may not want to run 100w bulbs they melted my wiring after less than a month. |

I'm a fan of the SilverStars. A better 'quality' of light IMO. Much whiter, not dingy yellow. I've also modified the low beam by removing the small metal 'spoon' which blocks some of the light output. I've also adjusted the aim on both lights, and I run High-beams all the time. Very good night visibility, and I can't recall anyone ever flashing their lights at me either. I second Buelltroll's opinion. Just run the 55w. Higher wattage can melt the plastic headlight housing, and cook off the reflective coating. |

AND the wiring going to the housings. Don't ask me how I know this. Iv'e also replaced my lowbeam housing with another highbeam, don't think that actually helped anything though because now its 2 spot patterns instead of one spot one flood. But the bulbs ARE worth the dough. |

I put silverstars on my M2 after using them on my mustang. In both cases, they are awesome. Big time improvement. On my bike, I really couldn't see crap without my high beam on. With the silverstar, it seems like the low beam is brighter then the stock high. |

Donnie, thanks for the very helpful posts. I had removed the "spoon" from the lowbeam and had noticed a different intensity from the lowbeam compared to the highbeam. I was thinking that maybe some of the reflective coating had deteriorated inside the lowbeam (I had briefly run a 100w in the low). However one light set up as a spot and one set up as a flood takes in complete account for the differences, and I don't think I have that much deterioration anymore. I also adjusted the aim of the lowbeam which helped. It was adjusted high for when the spoon was in and I adjusted them lower. I saw smoke coming out from the housing before I put the rubber cap back in place when I had the 100watt in there. Something? DID burn though... So Silverstar 55w is what you recommend? Can you go into detail about what voltage regulator you went to and how to install? THANKS |

Thanks for the helpful posts guys. I guess I'll be dishing out the extra dough for the Silverstars. Crazy question. Why do you have to go through so much (remove front fairing) to adjust the headlights? |

Loosen the 2 long bolts in the windscreen loosen the blinkers remove the mirrors and just tip it forward. You don't have to REMOVE it. I just replaced my regulator with a stock one,it took my starter out with it so that got replaced too. (Message edited by buelltroll on October 02, 2006) |

Ok, I have a question on the Bulbs. I have some 60/55w--130/125w Raybrig h4rs-w12v sitting around. Am I guessing that if I put these in they are to strong and will melt some things????? |

H4 will not fit in an R. I dunno what they'll do to an S, cuz I don't know what stock wattage they use. |

H4s will fit into an R, with a little modification to the wiring. You can actually set it up so both bulbs work for low beam and high beam. There was a thread about that a little while back, with pictures. The bulbs will fit fine though, they just have one extra pin (for the dual filament). YRMV though since the added heat would likely cause a melting hazard. Sam |

Sorry. Dunno. I just bought them as direct/compatible replacements to the stock bulbs. H3/5/7 - can't remember... I do know I'm using the same rated wattage (55). |

My bulb for for the M2 was a H4 ST. This is a 60/55 watt bulb. The package says "For Motorcycle Use Only". I got it at Auto Zone. |

I'm looking for a pair of bulbs with a bright output slight blue hue to them. Anyone know of a reliable brand to buy from other than E-bay? The bulbs would be for an xb9s 2003. H7 right? I also want to know how to wire them both to run at same time if it isn't going to cause problems with drawing too much current. It would be better for visibility for me and others to see me coming. Samiam, where is that thread located for running the lights at the same time? Thanks!! |
