Put a sticker on it. That seems to help Honda Civics.

Are you looking for top-end, mid-range, or off the line?

You really don't need more than what you've got, just learn how to use it.

there's a video of a bunch of guys on XB9S's stunting with only race kit mods.

lower the final drive ratio. you SAY you want to stunt, try about a 21 tooth front with about 56 or 58 teeth in rear, that should work okay. although i have seen some pretty hairy moto-ballet dancing on a stock XB9.

If you didn't already do it replace the airbox cover with a 12 cover.
Good return for the buck.

On the 03 9s the lid has a flat top, the 12s are dimpled with a cone shape toward the stack.

If the clutch is out of adjustment it could help, but the bike will do a fine 2nd gear when bone stock.
You just need to figure it out, it takes some practice and finding what the bike wants you to do.

Are you guys at full throttle when you clutch it? Also, what RPM are you at?

I tried to clutch it today. I was at full throttle in 2nd gear and went to hit the clutch and realized I was at the rev limiter. LOL I was like "What just happened?"

Not full throttle.

Shea, I think we have found part of your wheelie problem, you still ride like your on an inline.

Your mph needs to be slower and allow the torque to pull the wheel up, not speed with horsepower.

Also if you were accelerating at full throttle you were gaining speed, you will have a better chance at a wheelie if you are at a constant speed where the action of clutching/gassing it will increase the speed of the tire greater than if you already have the inertia/speed of high acceleration.

(at least it makes sense in my head?)

ive got a bone stock 12r, but what I do in second gear is wind it out to about 3500 rpm, pull in cluch and then whack throttle wide open and dump the clutch before you hit the rev limiter, this will launch the front wheel skyward in a hurry wich allows you to get to the balance point almost rite away so you dont run out of revs slowly pulling the front wheel up. Anyway when you feel yourself getting close to the balance point let out of the throttle so you dont flip backworks (always cover the rear brake when attempting wheelies). At this point it just takes practice to moderate the throttle to keep the bike at the correct angle. If you do it rite you can have the bike at the balance point at around 4500 rpms wich leavs you plenty of revs to go to ride the wheelie out pretty far. And that is what you want if you are a beginner at wheelies because you will feel safer if you are accelerating a little during your wheelie since that allows you to ride at less steep of an angle. Sorry that was so long winded but hope it helps! Also you may want to take all of that with a grain of salt because although I can ride a pretty good wheelie Im no pro stunter

I think if you are at that rpm, your speed will explain itself.

lol

AJ, good post, I forgot and havent seen anyone mention that once at or near balance point to let off throttle then slowly get back on it to even it all out and keep your position. I find that the lower rpm range is perfect for my 9r and am still struggling with shifting while the wheel is pointed skyward oh and standups freak me out so I dont even bother with em. PRACTICE is the bigest and best advice I've seen

Hammer - do the same technique you stated above, at about 30mph.

When I approach the balance point (I can't stand up and do it), I let off a lil, apply a lil, let off a lil, apply a lil, all while covering the brake.

I sorta just work the throttle to keep it in the balance zone. I can stay up for awhile, being in just 2nd gear. I can't shift yet.. too scared.
