Sorry for your spill.

Everything would have been way more expensive if you hadn't taken care to protect your body and your bike like you did. A good reminder to all of us.

hope you and your bike are rollin' again soon.

Did any of the other riders behind you go down? Glad you weren't hurt too badly, and my condolences for having to see your bike looking like that.

FYI - when I went down I had the same dent in the frame. I needed a new swingarm, new frame, new rear wheel and lots of cosmetic stuff.

The damage was about $6K to repair, and they did NOT total it. If you can cover the dent with a puck I would do that. The HD/Buell shop here wouldn't touch the bike unless they repaired everything, including the frame - they claimed it was a liability issue. They wouldn't let me do any of the work either. Kind of irritating, but I guess I can understand their concerns.

Sam,

Hope you are feeling all right today. The first couple days after going down are the bad ones. You find out everywhere you hit and all the things you pulled.

I've got everything you asked about in stock except for the primary cover. Buell usually takes one week or less to get me parts though, so we could have you road ready in no time. I guess I misjudged from the pics. If you can cover the dent with a puck, save yourself some dough.

Here are the prices:

Eor,

You're right, there wasn't really adequate spacing in this group. I feel your pain.

Macbuell,

I don't believe it was the ride leader's fault. Like I said our group was behind another group that decided to stop all of a sudden and that combined with how close we all were and my position (limited sight) led to my wreck IMO.

JandJ,

No, none of the other bikes went down, but some were close, especially the one that was behind me who almost ran over me when I finally came to a stop on the pavement. He narrowly avoided me by inches.

I am very glad I had those axle sliders, my swingarm would've been toast. Also, I looked closely at the front slider and by the look of the scratch on it, it looks like my front fork would've been scratched up a bit.

Josh,

I would like to order most of those parts from you, but I need to get some dough together first. Thanks to Diablobrian I won't be needing the clutch inspection cover. I'll give you a ring for the rest soon.

My leg seems to be healing quickly, if only a little stiff. I am afraid to try to bend it through its full range of motion yet from the memory of the pain of the first day after the wreck.

Thanks again all for the support through this and keep reminding all you know to wear AYGATT (or ATGATT if you prefer).

Sam

Sam...
This starts out...

I didn't think it'd happen to me. Who does?

Sounds almost like the Rape Video's from the briefings they make us watch.

Sadly, this isn't quite as good as you getting raped.

Good luck getting everything back together quickly!

RIDE ON

(maybe you could teach junior a few things... he seems to be having some difficulty)

Yes, we have that class.

All of the video's and such they have I find funny... I actually chuckle in the class. I think I could make better ones...

Kyle,
Been looking a lot on eBay, plus called around to get prices on parts. I ended up ordering today all of the needed parts, I am going to try to sand down/polish the black plastics. Something I did find out more recently was that I will have to replace the belt, since there were two small rocks embedded in it. That really sucks.

Thanks for the link for that wheel. I hope I am able to get that for reasonably cheap (not likely). As far as any other parts, I think I'm pretty much covered right now, save for the Rizoma turn signal from Trojan. That is unless you have a clutch lever layin around you could part with. But I could live without that for a bit since mine didn't break.

Sam, sadly I don't have an extra clutch lever.

Had this happened a month or so ago I would have been able to assist with everything, except the belt.

If I find something I'll be sure to make you aware of it.
