I don't post much but I have been on this board for awhile now and was thinking of mounting the Firebolt front fairing to my Lightning Long. I want to go with the Lightning bars to keep it comfortable, but with better wind protection. What do I need to find on ebay or from the board to make the conversion? I've seen pictures on here of a red Firebolt with the Lightning top clamp and handlebars so I know it will work, I just need a list of parts from someone who has done this "mod". Thanks for the help.

Will that work, considering how much wider at the front the XB12Ss frame is compared to the standard XB12S?

""so I know it will work""......... Things aren't always as easy as they look. You would need to install/modify some sort of "clip on style" bars (12R?). The S bars will contact the R fairing, master cylinder to windscreen, when turned. I do believe? I have not physically tested this theory, but am pretty confident it won't work. I wish it did..... I'd like S bars on my R, lol. Then theres the difference in your S to SS frame.

The only parts that you should need, apart from te obvious things such as the fairing, lights and brackets, are a slightly lower set of bars such as the LSL streetbar. This will stop the bars hitting the fairing. Other than that it is a straight bolt on.

The width of the frame will make no difference.

Look into putting the Ulysses flyscreen and windshield on. Its a direct bolt on after drilling four screw holes. Way better wind protection. Cost about $130. Someone on the board recently posted this mod and it looks good.

Thanks, that's the info I needed. I am already running a lower bar so I should have no problems with the rest of the stuff. I got a quote from my local dealer(St Mountain Buell) today, not as much as I thought, so I will be going with all new pieces.

BTW: People are nuts if they think you get a good deal on ebay.....some of the NEW pieces from my dealer are less than what people are bidding on ebay. CRAZY!!!

The frames are the same, but what connects to the frame, and how it's attached isn't.
The fairing of an R is bolted differently than the S flyscreen assembly.

The frames on the XB12Ss Lightning Long and XB12X Ulysses are different from the frames on all the other XB bikes. Different swingarms, too.
