HILLBILLY MOTORS EFFORT

ABOVE IS HILLBILLY MOTORS EFFORT AND MY INSPIRATION
Thanks for the tech help I was given by this board. As far as I know its the only xb turbo in Australia. I still have a couple of teething problems with her that I would like some help with. If anyone wishes to part with some knowledge. I have some oil flow problems at idle that clear up around 2000 rpm and minor exhaust dramas causing the pipes to exhaust unevenly. You blokes are the gurus with this stuff and if you feel like helping I would be glad to post detailed pics and problems. I know im from OZ but hey we all ride the same.

Cheers
Doc

If you post this in the knowledge vault, it may just pick up the interest of Firemanjim.
He's got the most knowledge of turbo charging Buells, that I know of.

Nice looking bike!
I'd like to see more pics of the Dragon, if you'd care to post them.

The next couple are pre turbo days, I have heaps of pics as ya would expect but dont wanna bore you all with them, Basically its a xb12 with a gt 15 turbo with a .68 wheel running about 6 lbs of boost which is about to be dynoed this week, if the engine looks like it will hold I will intercool it and head for 200 HP. : ). the dragon theme runs the whole bike.its head on the head fairing, body and wings on the tank and home made frame guards, spine and rest of wings on rear ducktail, It has a undertail on it , thats painted like the underbelly of a dragon, front claws on front guard, lower claws on bellypan. Thanks for the comments on it too. Its a bit of a ongoing project when money allows.

That is an awesome paint job, great attention to detail. I like how you had the seat stiched to go along with the scales

There are a lot of hours tied up in that paint job.

Nice bike. How much boost are you running?
and how many horses are you getting out of it?

I'd imagine(sp) a stock belt will die quickly with those kind of HP.You NEED a chain!

Funny how people think belts are weak... we had 167 hp on our drag bike before going chain for ease of gearing. We never broke a belt.

Doc,what are your oiling problems?
HD/Buell motors run very low oil pressure, esp at idle and could be problem with a plain bearing turbo.I have Garrett ball bearing going on mine because of this. The Aerocharger had it's own oil reservoir so not a problem.

As quiet as turbo exhaust is you could get away with no mufflers and still be quieter than normally aspirated bike with race can. Both my turbo bikes are unmuffled and quieter than their normal counterparts.

Thank you Jens and Eric.I am writing replies now and look forward to talking to you both. Firemanjim, I have a garret GT turbo with a ball bearing modifivation, Its a water oil turbo running without water at this stage.(that may change). Saw the aerocharger but went with the conventional way. And as for exhaust, Its a pair of 4 inch empty cannons with tips put on them. As jim says they are quiet as a mouse but gets a decent burble up in the rev range.
