well...

it isn't painted.

it is molded in color plastic.

it is made out of a pigmented derlyn that is the same color the whole way thru.

so there is no paint, so no paint codes.

you may be able to take a piece to a local paint shop and get the color scanned for whatever project you need

ya i get the fact that its colred all the way through but other bikes have paint codes that have color molded plastic if theres a color theres a code..they named the color....theres a code somewhere even if its color molded plastic someone has to know what colors to put into it....i appreciate the input and i can color match myself just fine but shooting in the dark leads to bad things most of the time its hard enough to get plastic to match with a code....im rethinking the color scheme and will go back to black if i cant find it or color match......

Brian,

Interestingly enough, there is a paint that is extremely close to the Buell Yellow.

It is Krylon Fusion Yellow, in the rattle can.

This is a hybrid type of paint, so you need to be careful with primers, (they say it doesn't need any), and especially with clear coats, which will often react with it. Krylon can give you a recommendation for a clear coat that won't react, but it is an art store product. Sorry I forget the name.

I had good luck with this paint on small parts by baking the part at around 200º for about an hour in my kitchen oven. Hardened the paint and brought up the shine.

Hope that helps, I know pros just hate using rattle cans.

ya i get the fact that its colred all the way through but other bikes have paint codes that have color molded plastic

don't these bikes also have steel tanks that require paint?

Buell doesn't have anything to paint, so they do not need to make a paint the same color so no need for paint codes.

all other Buells that were were painted have the codes, i have codes for all the painted bikes from s2 to x1.

no paint no code...

No paint code, but if you look real closely on the back of the molded plastic part, you can see the plastic molded in color code from Du Pont.

Molly,
Can't your sikkens rep bring out a scanner. I shoot Dupont and it is never a problem to get a formula form a Chromavision. If Sikkens can't scan it ask your local Dupont supplier or PPG supplier to scan it and get a code then cross it to sikkens.
