my bike has been acting up with not charging the battery and dying on the road . I took it to antelope valley hd and they replaced the voltage regulator, Went and picked up the bike and 80 miles later the same thing again ! Keep in mind I picked up the bike on saturday rode the 80 miles home and then the bike died again ! So on sunday i took the bike back down again and they have had the bike for 2 weeks now . The tech says the regulator is shot again . I did some searches in the knowledge vault and it is the same problem some of you all have had . I am getting frustrated , for the past 24 days i have ridden my bike for 2 1\2 hours . the service department is very professional and curtious but im not getting results ( a fixed bike ) . HELP! I am at a loss , i informed the dealer of some of the solutions that i have found here and they say they are checking it out but the bike is still not fixed . Im sorry for the long post , venting .

When mine did that, it was both the stator and the regulator. I took my bike in Saturday AM and had it back with a whole new charging system by noon. The tech also noticed a couple other things while he was test riding and thankfully I'm taking it in this weekend for a complete engine teardown. They say I'll have it back within a week. I'm sorry your dealer sucks. My dealer is Stone Mountain Harley Davidson & Buell.

Dec my stator went, May the voltage regulator, Sept they said it was the battery, which I have a hard time believing. They replaced the battery yesterday and was charging fine. Took them the rest of the day to put a neutral switch in and locate a clutch cable. This morning it wasn't charging. Then they took it out again and now it is charging ok. Tomorrow morning they are going to check it again. I guess it is time to put the volt gauge on I got from American sportbike. Would have been on sooner but I misplaced it for a couple of months.

Sub, I'd be going insane if I were you. If a dealer can't diagnose a problem and has it for that long at least they could do is give you a loaner bike.

I just bought a Honda Hawk GT to commute on because I can't stand driving my car in LA anymore. 2 out of the 3 times it has died I was without my bike for at least 2 weeks. So with 2 bikes now at least one should be running.

alright seriously I want to fix the bike!!!!! I'm getting tired of this crap. What do i need to tell the dealer to get the damn thing fixed ? It has 7300 miles and has been dealer maintained . I am really starting to get frustrated . wouldent it be easier to just replace the whole starting\charging system than fooling around for 3 weeks going on a month .for f@#k's sake i love the buell and have never wanted to get rid of it ( i still dont ) what do I need to do just so i can ride it ? Was the warrenty i paid extra for worth it ? I am not anti buell i just want the bike with me not at some dealership sitting around .

on mine it was both the stator and the regulator also. I took my bike in 3 times and got BMC involved before I got it fixed. Buell customer service authorized the dealer to replace the whole charging system. Took over a week (the last time it went in) but I havent had a problem since.

When mine had that problem it was the stator that went out at 28k I milked it almost a week before it was completely dead and it smelled really bad, the voltage regulator was ok, I was also using mobil 1 75/90 at the time, I do not use that anymore. Now at a little over 38k I had a charging issue last Thursday, I went to start the bike and it acted like a weak battery, the starter solenoid chattered a bit but it did start, while it idling I checked the battery with my multimeter and showed no charging. I checked all the connections under the sprocket cover all were good except the 2 wire voltage connector had very slight melted appearance inside the connector on the ground side (black wire side)with just enough plastic residue on the terminals to keep them from having a good metal to metal contact, I scraped the terminals off with an xacto knife and reconnected the connector and started the bike again to see if the battery was now getting charged and all was good again. You can read the rest in the knowledge vault.
