hi guys! i'm new here. i live in belgium, but originally i'm polish.
i got myself one of those buells - xb12s. i bought it new in 2005. so far i've had several problems and i solved them myself with the great help of your forum.

now i have some problem again. i searched the forum, but could't find the answer.
when i ride between 40-60 mph i feel the vibrations on the steering wheel. it is like a quasi shimmie. when i go faster than 60 mph the shimmie goes off and i feel only the vibrations coming from the engine.

do you think it's normal or i should rather start searching for some bugs???

This is not normal, in the sense that it should NOT be happening.

It is normal in the sense that the head bearings on the XB series need tightening from time to time.

This situation does sound a bit more like a wheel balance, or tire cupping, ( irregular wear),

So I guess I might suggest the following.

1. Check steering bearings according to the shop manual, (perhaps the procedure is in the Knowledge Vault as well).
2, Check tires for inflation, balance and wear

Hope that helps.

Since it doesn't shimmy until a certain speed, and then stops after a certain speed, my guess is that your wheels are out of balance.

I have the same problem. Basically head shake at some speeds for some strange reason.

actually I don't feel those shimmies that much when I hold the steering bar. it is rater when I let it free when I ride within that speed scope (40-60). when I let the bar free at the speed over 60 mph - no shimmies are observed.
the bike has only 3000 miles.

Artur - My guess is your front tire is cupped. This is exactly how my Uly behaves after my front wears sufficiently.

I have discovered that I can not run the front tire down to the wear bars, like I can the rear. The tire wears enough to affect the ride of the bike even though it still has plenty of tread left.

I am guessing front tire also.
3000 on a stock Dunlop and you are sure to have some cupping going on.
Get new tires.

i have to agree, tire would be a good bet. mine would also shake at times until i put my first new set of tires on. then it was gone. that old tire had some cupping on it.

My front tire has 100 miles on it. So I'm still confused

Make sure the balancing weight is on the rotor side on the front wheel.
