Post mortem of my last crash, I know I should have dampened my enthusiasm and my right hand, but I am wondering if a damper might help with this type of situation in future. XB9S with front pre-load 5 lines showing, back at #6. I found this set up really helped the bike dive for the apex.

I am on a ramp that goes left,70 mph, pegs not quite touching when I hit a dip, peg hits asphalt hard. So far as I can reconstruct, the bike starts to wobble. Left side hits hard again (I later saw a chunk out of the asphalt and yellow paint from the belly fairing on the road), then it straightens up and I thought for a nano second I might save it but the bars are turned hard left and over the high side we go. I can't say whether I contributed by tightening up on the bars. Is this something that a steering damper would help with? I really had no other stability issues with this bike up to 120 mph.(I am too old and chicken to go faster)

I don't know if a damper would have helped in your situation, but it certainly would not have hurt to have one.
I am happy that I have one, even though I know it has not yet come into play, as much as I can tell.

Best bet's to quit riding that way on the street, pardon me for saying so. Street riding offers too may "stray bullets" to be dragging XB pegs with any expectation of long-term survival.

Nuerburgringer: Don't I know it. Really, I was being a very good boy for quite a long time. Unfortunately, that day the devil just got the better of me.

Which highlights for me something I recently ready somewhere else and didn't take too seriously but in hindsight, I think it was a factor. This was my mental state when I went out for that ride. I wasn't crazy mad or anything but I had been through some very frustrating business situations in the last couple of weeks and I think that was a factor in my letting down my self control.
