To Daves and other ecm programmers.
Has there been programmed ecm's for big bore kits yet? Thinking of the 1250 big bore for XB12s especially

More than likely if you are doing motor work you are going to need a custom map.
Once you start with motor internals, there are just too many variables to have a pre-canned map to cover them all.

You can get by with the Race ECM with the 1250 kit. Although if you go beyond a stage 2 on your heads you'll need some custom map work. Also if you change out for cams the map work again will play in role. I suggest you give Brian Nallin a jingle at Revolution performance.

Terry P (Buelldyno_guy) was working on a 1250 map with micron and open airbox last I knew.

He's out at Bonneville with his thumper right now though so I wouldn't expect him to chime in.

Bads1: Will there be any power gain with the race ecm combined with a 1250 big-bore kit, the engine don't get any more fuell that way? And will it make some lean condissions with just the race ecm with a 1250 kit?

Of course there will be a power gain! The stock fuel injection system does compensate for changes, it will just continue to run about as lean as it always did stock.

Bigsherm9r: Ok, so the powergain must come from higher compression with the 1250 kit?

Well, higher compression, and the displacement increase, yes.

In simple terms, the injection system can adjust the fueling for more air going into the engine with the bigger bore, just the same as if more air was entering the engine due to lower or higher altitudes, cooler or warmer weather, etc. The thing is, it will adjust itself to the factory air/fuel ratio settings.

The benefit of the race ECM or reprogramming your ECM is that the engine will be running richer/leaner where you decide for the best power characteristics, rather than the factory settings which tend to be a little lean so the emissions will be within the allowed range for a new vehicle.

There is a limit to the amount it can adjust itself, but I don't think you'll be there with the 1250 kit.

Does the alluminum/nikasil cylinders that the big bore kits are made of have qualities over the original cylinders?

Yes, all aluminum yields improved heat dissipation. The nicasil is also touted as a better surface with less friction effect. They also sound better, at least to me. : D

I have read several reports of miss-fire on the 1200ccm engines, is it possible that this will increase the risk of miss-fire with the 1250 kit in combination with just the race ecm, Buell's free-flow air filter and a Drummer SS? And what can I ekspect of power increase in this combination by adding a 1250 kit to it?
