I dont know if its my imagination but my clutch pull feels lighter than it used to. The gears seem to be shifitng with out even the slightest clunk. Im a little worried because everything seems a little too soft. Where did the clunk go? I wonder if I need a new clutch. | ||

no oil change, but maybe its due? Is this a symptom? | ||

Change your oil, it will improve shifts. Change trans oil too and it will improve more. | ||

If its an 06 they re-designed the gearbox and from my understanding it gets smoother as it breaks in. Please someone correct me if I am wrong. | ||

wow, im almost at 20,000 and it really changef jurastically. I left town for the holiday weekend, and when I got back, I noticed it felt smoothe, a little too smoothe. Is it possible the clutch isnt engaging enough? Maybe I need to get the clutch adjusted? | ||

First check that your adjustment lock nut is tight(under the rubber boot in front of motor). You say you went away for the weekend, did you ride or drive? | ||

I had a 03 XB9 and I just got a 06 XB12. The 06 has a lighter clutch pull and shifts easier. Nothing is wrong with your bike. | ||

yes you will definately need to adjust the clutch. Find someone with a service manual that can walk ya thru it or show ya how. it is fairly easy but needs to be done. I check my adjustment about every 5k but i ride my bike real hard. | ||

make sure that you loosen the adjuster at the front on the cable like it says in the manual and then make your clutch adjustments. If you run into anything just pm me. When you are adjusting it just take your time and it will all make sense. the first time i did it...i had it too tight and then the second it was too loose and slipping. I found out that i wasnt paying close attention to the manual | ||
