Anyone read about this? I read a quick article about some German company testing these airbags and riders coming away pretty much unscathed. I read it on Yahoo this morning.

An autoshow in Japan I think... showed a honda scooter with airbags to protect the "assets".

The video is available on Yahoo. Just watched it a couple of minutes ago. Wanna take bets on how long some Government Screw decides they're mandatory on ALL motorcycles? Thanks a LOT, Honda!!

Was that directed towards me?

I was definately on topic, discussing airbags on motorcycles.

Your post contributed absolutely zero.

To continue with the Goldwing airbag, I have not seen any factual data on it (I suspect there is little because of it's newness) But the factory must have some test data that showed it to be a worthwhile investment.?

They seem to only work for head on. I wonder how much extra height they will give you on a more common high side or even low side. I'll bet the anti motorcycle fringe is chomping at the bit to outlaw all bikes that don't have them. Good bye dual sport and dirt bikes, hello more weight, complexity and regulation. Although I wasn't planning on it I won't buy a Honda because of this. Thanks for inventing something stupid to ruin the sport.
Can't wait for roll cages and seat belts.

And I quote, "Why is it so safe? The driver is protected by shoulder height protective bars, an impact absorbing front wheel guard and a rigid aluminum roll-over cage. The C1 thus incorporates a car-style safety cell, formed by its aluminum "space frame" and roof struts. The C1 is fitted with twin seat-belts in a "cross your heart" fashion to keep the rider safely inside the vehicle. "

No, it was not directed toward you personally or your post.

Airbags on motorcycles, has the question ever been asked?

I guess after it all gets sorted out, the japanese will engineer water bags much more efficient than the old fashioned air bags.
Of course this will be after H-D has gone to air bags.
Then in a thread in the future will be titled.
Air Bags vs Water Bags
The thread will go on forever, and there will be repost after repost.
Trolls and the like will be flaming everyone within reach.
And we'll all be talking about when bikes had no such thing.

did you guys see this months issue of SUPER AWESOME Magazine?
it has a picture of the new WATERBAG bike but it has the frame and styling of the old AIRBAG bike.
it is real, or a photoshop?
also looks like they started putting the airbag mounts on the left side for 07.

Can you imagine having a water bag in Alaska? Yeah that truck that pulled in front of me didn't hurt me, but that 40 pound block of ice that hit me in the face sure did. : )

Airbags, ABS on bikes...... All crap! If I'm riding, I'm riding on the edge a lil. Whats with all the CRAP? If I wanted safety I'd drive my truck (cage) everywhere. If I'm gonna kick the can on a bike, then so be it. I wear full protective gear when riding and I am always watching the other guy. If its my time, its my time. CRAP!

In order to make our bikes safer, they should be fully enclosed, incorporate crumble zones, include seat belts and air bags, have a clear safety glass windscreen, and have 4 wheels instead of 2. I think this might have been done already though. Aren't they called cars?
