My Firebolt is in the shop for some routine maintenance and I have a new CityX loan bike for the day ! First impressions are how small it is, even compared to a Firebolt, and how cushy the suspension is. It's a bit louder than my bike (it sounds more like a Harley  ) and it's very, very easy to ride. I'm enjoying the rev-happy nature of the smaller engine but it feels gutless compared to the 12, which drives off the throttle in any gear with aplomb. This CityX may be a weak example but the difference is very noticeable. Handling is excellent, helped by Scorpion tyres, but it's very different to a Firebolt and has a distinct dirt-bike feel to it. It's astonishing how much difference the bars and pegs make on what is essentially the same machine. Buell have carved out a useful niche with the CityX. It's not the bike for me but I can understand it's appeal. | ||

I rented a City X from Brian's in Langhorne, PA this summer to see if I liked it enough to buy one. Long story short, I'm currently selling two bikes in my stable to pick one up. I agree completely about the handling and riding position. Funny thing about the handling though is that when I first started riding it I thought it felt weird. The feeling quickly went away to the point where I felt more confident on this bike than any other bike I've ridden. After 250 miles I experienced the same thing in reverse when I got back on my bike. So much so that for a moment after I got back on my bike I thought something was wrong with my steering head bearings. As for the power, it's not as strong as my S3T but still very satisfying. When I got to the twisty back roads the perceived power difference all but disappears. Just my random observations. All in all, great bike. | ||

I have a 1250 cafe Sportster and I went with some riding buddies to a buell Demo Ride and bought the CityX a week later. Poor Sportster, just sitting there. --Sean | ||

I had a Bandit when I bought my little XB9S. I kept the Suzuki thinking it would be cool to have two bikes to choose from. I sold the Bandit after not choosing it for an entire summer. | ||

I'm very pleased with mine. I had a dualsport bike, and ended up using it more for the commute than offrading. It was a fun bike, but its road mannerisms wore on me pretty quick. I bought the CityX maybe 2 months ago, and it suits my needs perfectly. I hit the parkway and a multi lane highway for my commute - plenty of power and handling, and it's a trip around town. I took it for a 100+ mile ride today, mostly highway and I can't complain. It handles great and as for the upright position on the highway, it didn't bother me a bit, but I know it can be an issue for some. | ||

Bought my 2006 City X in April.Have 6500Kms of problem free riding. Comfortable and fun bike and draws a crowd where ever I go. | ||

I came off a very trick KTM Duke II supermoto bike to become the proud owner of an 05 XB9SX. After putting a FAST intake, race ecm and a drummer muffler it really runs strong (the way it should run from the factory!). I ride every day, rain or shine. Got 6000+ miles on it. For me it was an awesome choice. |
