I need a new rear on my 03 9S. I cant decide which ones to get. Here are the contenders. Pirelli syncs or diablos, battlax bt014 or dunlop qualifiers. What is every one using and are they happy? | ||

For what it's worth, Avon Tires is running a special on the new Viper Sport and Viper Supersport. For the month of September if you buy a rear tire you get the front for free!! They got a pretty good review in the Sport Rider tire shootout. | ||

I run Michelin pilot powers on my 9S. They also ranked near the top on the tire shootout by Sport Rider. | ||

I went from a Michelin Pilot to a Metzler and wish I hadn't. Next set will be Michelins again. | ||

I ran the Metzler Sportec M1, very nice tire. I now run the Pirelli Scorpion Sync, and I love them. Best handling tire I've had on the bike. I threw the stock Dunlops away after only 500 miles. | ||

Ok, Here is the deal. Best choice for the road, occasional track day: Dunlop Qualifiers. Almost as good. Michelin Pilot Power, Pirelli Diablo, Metzler M3 Now wasn't that simple?  Of course, any thing is better than the stock Dunflop 207's for the simple reason that they are the worst sport tire on the planet, and would be illegal if they still made them. | ||

I love my Avon Azaros. Wet or dry, they have been fantastic! If I get any kind of good mileage out of them, I'll buy them again. | ||

Love my Pirelli Syncs, the only other tire I've tried was the stock Dunlops. I think the Syncs look good on the Lightnings...kind of goes with the streetfighter look. Good on wet roads, good traction to the edge, I'm getting good wear out of mine. Bill | ||

I'm using the Michelin Pilot Roads and Pirelli Stradas for extended mileage. So far they are both excellent. You can get a set of Pilot Roads from Chaparral Motorsports for $199 if you ask for the combo deal, $218 total shipped to your door. | ||

Riding on the Pilot Powers. Instill so much confidence. No chicken strips at all as soon as I switched. When I tossed my stock Dunlops, they still had half an inch still left of chicken strips. Bike would stand up in the corners if I trail braked a bit and would get squirrely when hitting "tar snakes" in the road. Did the Pirelli Diablo Corsa III tire deal and have yet to receive them. Anxious to try them out. | ||

You can't go wrong with Pilot Powers or Diablos although both are wasted if you ride in town or on roads with few corners. | ||

I ride mostly on the street and I live in Kansas. You have to find twisties. I want good wear and long life. I like to ride hard I got my dunlops to a 1/4 chicken strip in the back. I think I may go with the syncs | ||

From the description of your riding the Syncs would be a good choice. Today I'm riding a CityX with Scorpions, and after stepping off my 2CT-equipped Firebolt and riding 8 miles through surburbia on my way to work there's no difference. This is in contrast to the previous D207-shod loan bike which I nearly crashed on the first corner. | ||

It's like night and day with the Pilot Powers, I was going to get the Dunlap Qualifiers, but...it seemed everyone reported better dry traction than the Michelins but scary wet weather traction. So the Dunlap got tossed again. | ||

I figure I will get a little less mileage on the Pilot Powers than the Dunlops, but how can you put a price on safety, fun or performance? If I wanted a touring motorcycle I would have bought something different. XB's have been labeled as the best cornering bikes in the world. Why do people insist on compromising its qualities? I could go on but I will leave it at that. | ||

I used my previous set of Pilot Powers all through a very cold Winter here in England and they were great after I lowered the pressures about 2-3 psi. Running them at the recommended pressures resulted in a few 'early warning' slides so I dropped them to 30F/33R and rode (almost) like it was Summer. | ||

I have the conti road attacks on my 12R and I can't complain, They seem to stick pretty good and after 7000 miles I still have tread left for probably another 2k. I commute to work on the freeway primarily. But, I don't waist time at the stop lights either. | ||

See the other thread on sport touring tires in this forum. The word is the Conti Road attacks stick like Michelin Pilot Powers but wear like Pilot Roads. |
