I know many of you guys have hopped up your xb. My question is, where should I start? Can the airfilter be done before the pipe and ECM, or do the three need to be done together?

Is the Buell race kit the way to go, or should I look at other options?

Is there anything I can remove to boost performance without spending any money at all?

I appreciate the advice!

As far as exhausts go, it depends kinda on where you want the power in the RPM Range.

Refer to - ftp://ftp.americansportbike.com/outgoing/XB_Exhaust_Shootout_Test_Report.zip

My opinion is that the Race Kit is the best "bang for the buck" but they were discontinued.. so good luck. Some dealers still might have 1 laying in the back collecting dust.

The bike WILL BE an 06 or 07 (I am getting one this May when I move back to Oregon).
Since I don't have a bike to ride at the moment I am just thinking about what do to the XB I plan on purchasing.

Where to start? Try the KV topic of this very same name?

Start with hopping up you. Track time will allow you to use all the hp you have now.

IMO all the current Buells have as much or more power than most riders can use - spend your money on track time to improve your riding skill and carefully set up the bike to suit your riding style and its use (track or road). In my experience the Firebolt responds particularly well to a decent set of tyres (Pirelli Supercorsa Pro s (sc2) I find good for the track) I think you will find a well set up, well shod, well ridden bike is much more "powerful" than a bike that has 5bhp extra above 6000rpm and a big hole in the midrange - just my thoughts....maybe I'm wrong and looking fast by adding bike bling is the way to go?

crashm1 and surveyor are correct, and I'd add: upgrade your riding gear before you
start making mods to the bike. A 2 piece suit is a very good idea if you intend to
go in search of your limits, and those of your Buell. Plus good boots and gloves.

I con-cur...You need tweaking, not the bike, Im currently a noob ryder with a 75 Honda 750..and it gets me in and out of enough trouble. its a 750. Im gonna up to a 9R in 2008. If yer lookin to be a squid, then yea put the racekit and spend yer cheddar on the bling bling..carbon...desnorkel and all that, then you will be upgraded to douchebag. I say this cuz ive looked at many bios of peeps here, and yea some have pimp bikes. Theyve also been riding fer long time. I thought the same way as you dude, B4 my licence I was all yea..Im gonna get a 07 Xb12R, put the kit on it and just givver.

Then I went to bike training.

750 is just about right fer a noob, and yea im reall eager to get the rocket. I just want a 2008 thats all.

Im just sayin ..

Wow, thanks for the passionate advice! I am sure you are all right on. My point wasn't that I thought I needed to hop up the bike right away (I agree they have great power). I was just curious about possibilities. Blake pointed me to the knowledge vault, so I will just browse there.
