Old_man - I like that one too, I guess because it visually reminds me of a sportster. I prefer the old school look that has nothing but the essentials - motor, wheels, seat, bars & exhaust.

My good riding buddy has a black street rod. I do like it but it has a bit of a modern look that doesn't suit my personal taste. I raced him from a 5 mph rolling start up to about 100 recently. I unfortunately wheelied first to redline but he never passed me. It felt like a pretty even race all the way.

If you you get a Triumph I'd hold for 07's they have a front brake issue with the play that is driving speed triple owners crazy.... Other wise really nice bike..

Vrod is just cruiser...

SS and S3 are Sport bikes...

I just test rode a vrod last week and I did not like it at all. The engine was very nice but everything else was heavy, the clutch was stiff as hell, throttle was even heavy. The front end wanted to flop at slow speeds and it was very uncomfortable. Just my opinion though.

To me the Street rod feels very wide and top heavy compared to the Buell. For an H-D is a heck of a lot of fun in the corners. Ask Cochise (I know your reading this Joe, it's about a Long model!) how slow I was on a test ride I took him on though. Heavy bike + nice corners = fighting it to have fun.

If you are looking mainly to cruise with some cornering (but not hard cornering), the VRSCR might be for you. I'd choose the XB12SS myself though.

Check our www.v-rodforums.com
Should be able to find some specifics there.

I almost bought the triumph......I wanted a seating position a little higher......I commute on the bike daily.

The bike does steer different....I cannot begin to describe it counter steering or other wise. I would not trade it for the world.

Hey there,
Can't go wrong with either. I was lucky enough to get both over the last year, an Ss and the Night Rod(flat black of course). They were different enough to justify it. Since I have both, I may have even opted for the firebolt, to make it a bit more sporty...and I may end up going to crossroads to help. The Night Rod was the only HD for me. I like the fact that it has mid-controls, but also forward highway pegs for stretching out a bit. I find that on the days I take the rod out, I can still keep up with my jap buddies right up to the extreme riding. At which point we're seriously breaking the law anyway. I actually prefer the engine and pull of the Rev engine. YES, it's heavy, but it handles great/easily. It's a tough choice every time I hit the garage as they both beg to be ridden. PM me with any specific ?'s. Just had the Rod's first 1K service done by my dealership, and it was free because I bought the bike there. A street rod with a turbo would be awesome. Like I said, you have to be flying to really feel left behind. Any spirited riding and the rod will hang. Bolt a turbo on and with 170+rwhp you'll smoke most of them on the straights...up to a point anyway. Good luck, everyone needs at least 3 bikes, that's why choosing one is impossible. Maybe a new zx14 with helibars?

Hey, you don't know me, MAN, you don't know me at all!

Yes, Josh looked like a barnacle on a whale on that thing. He was pretty fast, however.

I don't know which bike you should get (LONG), there are so many good choices between (Long) Harley Davidson side and the Buell (GET THE LONG) side, so choose what you like (Long Bike), I am not going to try and tell you what kind of bike to get (Lightning Long) is the choice you should make on your own.

I have a Street Rod and and '03 race-kitted XB9R. I have ridden both on the Dragon -- a lot! The Street Rod is fun to ride and can be ridden fairly easily at a brisk clip. Lots of torque and decent, not great ground clearance. It's very, very easy to ride two-up. Gas mileage is horrible. The Buell will run circles around the Rod. It might not be as fast outright, but the power is always more accessible and you dont' have to watch the tach. If I'm going to the Dragon alone, the Buell is the choice. Anything else -- the Rod. You cannot really compare one to the other.
