I think from previous threads I have read about this conversion it is easyer to buy the S master then to try and mount the R to the S. I think it would look cleaner too

DAN

i am sure you are talking about the rear brake reservoir. as Will (Tq_freak ) suggest, i thought it was easier to just buy the reservoir for the S model. it was less than $20. it also comes with the right sized hose and new clamp.

Yeah, plan on it... going to call my local shop and order one of the rear reservoirs and tail light wiring tomorrow (adding it to my $4 lock cable)

But my test set up seems to work pretty well... used an "L" bracket and snaked the hose a bit. Decided to bleed my reservoir while I was at it. Only snafu have ben a short that kept clearing the clock and sweeping the tach on start up... and getting an air bubble in the rear brakes.

So the S tail is on... the order will be in tomorrow for legit S parts and now onto working out a mounting system for the hardcase saddlebags. woof that's going to take a bit of thinking.

Again thanks for everyone's help.

Let me know about your R stuff, if, you're interested in letting it go to a good home.

Thats a California model with the canister on it. I would just take it off and re-route the hoses. You aren't gonna have no place to put that thing, I think.

This morning's ride, included the same *short* that causes the tach sweep and clock reset when the starter kicks in... I was hoping I found the problem last night, but I contacted Thad and he'll be selling me all of the little parts I need! YEAH Thad!!
I'm hoping the short is caused by the lock interference.

Rasmonis and Lonexb,

Glitch will have the first dibs on the subframe, et al from the removal of the R tail, I'm just waiting to see if I like the S set up (well, apart from visually)

Passenger pegs will be used for mounting my saddlebags... unless I can think of something else.

Dan

if you don't use the passenger pegs. make sure you at lest put a bolt in the rear most hole.(closest to the tail light) to secure the battery tray and under tail.

did you figure out the "short"?

Sounds like you've got it under control.
Enjoy the ride, and let us know how you like the S vs the R seating.

I also have a "S" tail on my "R". It is polished and has the license plate relocater from American Sport Bike. I still have the "R" seat and passenger pad but the rest went on E-bay some time ago. I think it makes my bike look very compact and aggressive. Just my 2 cents.

I sure am. I have no idea of their worth but would be open to any reasonable offer.

I have a 2005 XB9SX and am looking to fab on the R tail. If your parts will work, I would be extremely willing to discuss prices. Respond or IM me.

Thanx! Joe

I was just humbled by the joys of E-bay but I would like to sell my seats outright to someone. I have the stock seat as well as the passenger pad. I believe I still have the license plate frame and a few odds and ends. I will let it all go for 40 dollars (plus shipping). I also think I have the seat lock cable. I'll look tonight when I get home. I will post here or feel free to contact me at cshelton@interstatepkg.com.
