SCHUBERTH C2, wear glasses, no need to remove them when putting on or taking off. Dark or clear shield at the lift if a slide bar, you always have your clear and dark shields with you, no changing.
What could be easier?

I like to change helmets every three years. Seems like every new helmet I buy is better than one I had. I've been using HJC CL series helmets for 5 years now. At around $100 bucks a pop delivered to my door for my last CL14, it's hard for me to shell out $700 for a top of the line Arai (I sure would like to have one, though).

I can scratch my cheap HJC and not have a cow... and I guess I just have a $100 head.

The free helmet they gave me when I bought my XBR got scratched as I was leaving the dealership for the first time. I didn't care, still don't, because I'm still using that loud uncomfortable, drafty, FREE helmet. Black of course. If the helmet still covers my head I just can't get rid of it.

Arai all the way.. I've always gone cheap for helmets (the thought is - hey it's got all the standards and approvals that the more expensive brands have so what's the difference? right?) But after getting my Arai as a replacement for my HJC I'm never going back.. The light weight, comfort factor and venting that actually works is worth the $380 for a rx7 corsair(top of the line) - delivered (yes an Arai can be got for cheap) esp. if you know your size and fit when you order it from a reputable ebay dealer trying to liquidate last year's colour scheme. Regardless of what helmet you opt for - save your hearing always wear ear plugs..

I'll fourth or fifth the Scorpion line... as long as it fits your head.

Grimel...you're definitely not alone on the sunglasses thing...I wear sunglasses or clear glasses at all times...I just cringe at the thought of something flying into my eyeball from the road...I paid good money to have perfect vision, I don't want to ruin it.

http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/apparel/Product.asp?Menu_ID=1&CategoryID=6&Produ ctID=2165
Is it a rebranded Shoei or something like that?

I have an Arai Corsair II with the blue iridium lense. Great helmet and it keeps me cool as long as I am moving. The tint tends to get a little too dark once the sun goes down, but its not too bad. I would vote for the Arai, but I have heard many good things about the Scorpion helmets as well....plus they are a few bucks cheaper!!

The "Harley" branded helmet they gave me with my "Buell" is actually an HJC with some sort of unique visor that can't be replaced. HJC can't replace it and the parts counter people all look at me like I'm an idiot for asking. Damn thing breaks off every time I open it, so I have it fixed in position with about a 1/8" gap at the bottom.

FREE helmet wooohooo!!!!

The Buell Helmets are KBC VR-1 euro's. I have one and recommend it to anyone. Light, quiet, removeable liner, realy comfortable.
great reviews. http://www.webbikeworld.com/Reviewed-motorcycle-products/kbc/

Had a small issue with a ratchet, emailed the help line, had 4 (spares)new improved ratchets overnighted to me. Plus they sent me new clear, blue iridium, and red iridium visor's. (and one for my wifes VR-2)!

Great company! Really nice helmet!

The Shuberth C2 is "just o.k." for me. Stupid visor slams shut at 60-70mph. I like to ride with my shield open most of the time. It's kinda heavy too. Overall, my Arai Q2 is my best helmet.

Well until i bought my 12R i only wore half helmets or little chopper DOT (do your own thing) buckets.

i have 2 full face now a Black HJC (with buell decal) and an ICON Mainframe (skull) i dont know how the ICON compares to really good helmets but this one feels good and looks kick A$$.

I like the idea of the SCHUBERTH built in dark shield, but wasn't interested in the flip face or high price. Searched around a bit and found the Caberg 104 SOLO.

Noisy, but you should really wear earplugs anyway, right? Love the always ready dark shield, and it fits me well.

Price was OK, but they don't sell them in the US.

Aerostich sells a flip face from Caberg though, but like I said, not interested in a flip face.

I've had HJC, and my last 2 helmets before the Caberg were Shoei. Huge difference in comfort and fit between the HJC and Shoei, with Shoei winning hands down. Never tried Arai because I've heard the shield system is difficult to manage/learn.

Just my $.02

Wow! That's great! I thought I'd have to wait to get a new helmet until I went over seas again.

THANKS!

Just invested in a Shoei X-Eleven (with flames) and I love it. My old helmet was worn out, never really fit well, and stunk big time. After trying on 10 or 20 different helmet found the X-11 to be the only helmet fitting my head right, while still having a totally removable and washable liner, which I thought I needed here in Hot Houston. Have discovered however that the venting is so good that I have yet to break a sweat in it. Keeps my head relatively cool at 95F and 95% humidity - typical Houston weather 6 months out of 12 - as long as I'm moving. Between Shoei and Arai you can't go wrong. Buy the one that fits the best.

I had a buell helmet....it was okay for about 6 months. but eventually every time (on the highway) I would check lanes the visor would pop.
so I sprung for a suomy (the fancy one) it's comfy, quiet, and the visor locks...A+ in my book.

If you don't have $500 bucks then don't try the x-11, cuz after you try it you have to have one. I think what makes the thing vent so well is the huge hole under the huge air spoiler. Air is not being vented into the lid, it being sucked by the low pressure from the wing.

See what I mean.

My other lids in order of quality:
1-Schuberts c2
2-HJC AC3 ( 3/4 lid )
3-Nolan 102
4-HJC clast-14 (pos)
5-Icon II mainframe (pos)

After destroying many eyeglasses squeezing them into the full face helmets for 20 years, I finally switched to a flip-face helmet, Nolan, and I'll never go back, don't even care if they may not be as safe, which they probably aren't. It's just so much easier on me and my eyeglasses, I just put the helmet on my head and close the front, it's GREAT.

Forget about eye glasses people.. Lasek is the ONLY way to go.. the best ever mod for your motorcycle ever..
Now about the only time I use any sort of eye glasses in my helmet are in the spring and the fall when the mornings are pitch dark, so clear shield being the best for optics and the shades for the afternoon run home.. Otherwise it's the mirrored tinted shield for the summer..

The New Nolan N102 has been consistently rated as the best flip top.

I bought one when I realized that I wear a flip top more than my Arai, for just local riding. So I wanted a good one. The Nolan certainly fills the bill.

It also has a built-in flip-down sun shade visor, but I have not found it to be very useful, and after several attempts to use it, I am thinking about removing it.

Buell helmets are the KBC lids rebadged for buell. I have one and it will probasbly be the last one for me. The visor wont stay on, and the vents are comming off. the dring strap is way too short, and makes putting it on difficult.

I vote for the Scorpion as a great helmet for the money. Save the big bucks you would waste on the heavily marketed (why they are expensive) helmets and get a good riding jacket or pants.

DJ if you are interested, there is a dealer that sells on Ebay. I bought a AC-11 last year (the HJC top of line FF) for $110ish shipped to my door. No auction, buy it now from the Ebay store. This guy is a good sized bike dealer in Ohio.

I can look up his store URL.
