Like a knucklehead, I left the key to my XB9S on for about 6 hours last week. I came back & the neutral light on the dash was barely lit. S@!T. I got a jump, limped it 13 miles home & now, I cant get it to turn over. Is there any hope of charging it back to life or do I have to drop sheckles on a new battery?

Try charging it as S L O W L Y as your charger will allow.....3 amp or less. After charging, let it sit for a day then hook up a voltmeter to it. It should read 12.8. If it's made it this far, take it to a dealership and have it load tested. Be sure to charge it again after the load test if it passed.

Once a battery is past a certain discharge level there is no hope for return. I'd ditch it and get a new one and pick up a batter tender along with it ($40), cheap insurance. Hook up the pigtail leads when you are not riding the bike and you will have a fully charged battery all the time. I've had batteries last 5 years with this method.

I left mine on for a couple days. Hooked it up to the Battery Tender for about 24hrs. So far, so good for two months now.

ihave had good luck slo charging "dead" batteries but, a severely discharged batterry -always seems to fail sooner than a unabused battery.

Good Morning. I had have an issue with my bike and my gut is telling me it's the battery. I am having the dealership pick her up to check her out, but if its the battery I'd like to know where I can pick up a Battery Tender. Never heard of one before, but it sounds really smart. MAGS

yes. a very fine morning indeed. If you are having a battery problem, then you want to purchase a new battery. check date codes, be sure you are in fact buying a NEW battery. A battery tender will maintain the charge on a GOOD battery, and is good for a seldom ridden vehicle that sits a lot. A battery tender will not fix a defective battery, nor will it diagnose or test a battery.
