Has anyone painted their XB a flat black color or similar? I was just interested in what this looks like. I did a search but didn't have any luck. I'm going to re-paint this winter and I've always had this thing with the flat black color with some dark red accents. | ||

See profile pick. I used a textured Rustoleum and sanded it with a Scotch Pad. It's holding up surprisingly well, and cost about $16. | ||

I used the krylon fusion on mine. It looks good, but sometimes it chips off and I have to spray it again. I get compliments about the "streetfighter" look quite often. | ||

Line-x is always my black suggestion!! Cheap, won't chip, fade, crack...don't even have to wash it... | ||

It's heavy too. I just wet sanded mine down to a nice satin finish. Looks great IMO. Left some parts shiny but not much. It's kinda subtle too. Don't have any pics... sorry. | ||

I seen the line-X but it does look a little too rough for me and I don't need to carry my tools on it! (ha,ha) I like the Black Satin. I searched and found some motorcycles with this. I'll probably go with the black satin with some blood red subtle pin-striping. not a lot but more subtle and you have to be up close to see it. | ||

It's rough in the sense that it's textured, but it isn't going to cut your hands..I can't describe it properly, but they have samples, it's NOT that heavy...I had my airbox and windscreen done and really didn't notice much difference in the weight...maybe a few ounces here or there... They have protective spray that makes it somewhat shiny, mainly it's just for prolonged sun exposure, so it doesn't fade.. it's nice stuff...and you will never worry about scratching your plastics... but sure, it's not for everyone...get a spare set and see if you like it. | ||

I used to have the amber wheels but never took a picture of it with the blackened front end and header and........ well everything else. I'm sure if someone is good at photoshop I can send them pictures of my bike and they can go nuts. | ||

my bike keeps getting blacker (those pics above are old). i just use flat black rustoleum and touch it up now and then. at night you can't even see it. hehe. i also recently painted the chain tensioner pulley bright red. it's really subtle but looks awesome (especially because it spins backwards when you roll forward). i'll get a pic to show that soon.  | ||

You want BLACK plastic ? Dye it ! Yup ! Frank in Ottawa dyed his yellow XB9S black plastic parts by soaking it in BLACK clothes dye in hot water. One pack of powder in a tub ! True. Beautiful very glossy black.  | ||

That last picture is F-in great! That's the color scheme I'm into. It reminds me of the old orange/black Tuber style. Granted it's Amber but that still looks the best IMO. | ||

 Kandy Blue with Flat Black everything else. I also sprayed the flat with a clear Satin afterwards, made it look really smoooooth!  | ||

Line-X is not as heavy as you might think. Never, ever will I have to worry about scratches, gouges, chips, fingerprints, etc. Easy to clean and always looks new even when it's dirty! This is some tuff stuff!   | ||

Hey U4euh that looks really good! I'll consider that clear Satin also! Probably a good way to protect the paint also. On another note - what is that grab rail thing you have on the back of your bike? Where did you get it? TIA and all these bikes look damn hot. | ||

Xbeau12s-Brine is correct. Although only the mounting rails are Ventura, fellow BWB'r was selling his 'S' to get an 'R', the rails wouldn't work so I got them. The part that point's to the back of the bike are tubes cut away from the handle of an old shop light. The Cortech tail pack has two pockets on the bottom the slide right over those two tubes giving it the 'floating' appearence. Ejiii-can you take a close up picture of your LineX. The pictures seem to look the same from yours to mine. If that is the case, I would recommend the LineX just simply because of durability. When I think of LineX, I think of the truck bed liners rough surface???! | ||

Greetings, To Line-x the whole bike it was $185. I dropped the parts off on the way to work, picked them up on the way home and installed them. Good to go! I had the Line-X sealer put on so although the surface looks rough it's real slick. Not rubbery feeling at all. These pictures might be better.   | ||

How did you prep the plastic? Red ScotchBrite Pad, soap and water. I tested 4 different brands of paint, including the Krylon Fusion. The Rustoleum (Fine Textured for Metals) bonds great with that Surlyn Plastic. It's the only brand I had real trouble sanding back off. I can't think of a single scratch or chip on it yet, including the center of the chin fairing, which is really surprising considering miles of gravel roads I've taken it down. | ||
