Well, I had to stop riding long enough to come an post this.

1st, I replace my original Duncrap tires and bought Pilot Powers......holy cow batman, I truly believe someone switched my old bike for different one. It handles 800% better.

Second, I installed my Right Side air scoop when the bike was down for my tire change. Well, I rode for 15 minutes in the heat and when I stopped...............I could hear crickets it was so quit. GOD had finally answered my Buell prayers, the fan didn't kick on.

Anywho, very excited....I'm off to ride and going to pull into bike night without the sound of a 747 taking off when I shut the bike down.

Good on ya' mate!

No really, it's good to hear someone had a good ride, and their modifications worked out to their satisfaction!

Ride On....Ride On

Well, my finale ride (unstatistically based of course) results. Fan finally came on a few times, but a whole lot less than ever before.

The Pilot Powers are unbelieveable. I'm serious, it feels like a totally different bike.......and in a very good way.

Anywho

Yes, those Dunlops where a crime.
Buell has made the biggest improvement to their line by going to the Pirelli tires.

Maybe it is just me, but I actually like the cooling fan. It is a cool feature and it's just another small thing that separates these bikes from the rest. Most people that have approached me about my bike have done so immediately after I get off of it and the fan comes on grabbing their attention. It gives it the feel of sophistication similar to that of a car.

Furthermore, I think the fan has a mind of its on and there is no way to keep up with it and monitor how much the bike uses it. And just to continue my position on this site as the Devil's advocate, I must add one more thing about that fan. If such a small adjustment made such an improvement, wouldn't the guys in Troy have figured it out?

But I'm glad it all worked out for you.

That's cool, but the fan attention is not what I'm looking for on my bike. It's doesn't give me a feel of sophistication....just the opposite, it's like a siren screeming "old air cooled" technology when every I pull in anywhere I go. With all the very sophistacted details on the Buells, I believe this takes away from it all and that' all anyone remembers. Not all the great innovations on the XB's.

As for "the guys in Troy".....There are a thousand improvements to any motorcycle "jap or american" that can be made but the manufactures can't afford to keep adding them to the price of the cycle or they would be out of business. Actually there was a post on Badweb of where someone talked to Eric Buell about and he agreed it would keep the back head cooler.

I love my XB, that's why I spent my hard earned money on it........but I don't like the FAN (or satan as I refer to it) or Belts. So I spend my money to try to improve upon them. Anyone who likes the fan and belts, more power to you. That's why we are all different.}

i too put on cont road attacks...wow what a difference from the dunlops.it truly feels like a different bike...these tires feel like they were made for the bike, the easy lean n drop in turns is unbelievable, along with the confidence it inspires.....

Dave at Appleton HD/Buell says a right side air scoop is just over $200. Is it really worth the investment?

I've got a new set of Pirelli Diablo Corsa III's on the way. We'll see if they are better than the Dunlops.

Have you ever owned a water cooled bike? My fan runs after I turn it off. As does my dad's.

I hear ya man, I just swapped out the Junklops for Perrelli Diablos and I thought the same thing, would have swore it was a different bike. Also installed the Jardine while the bike was down

ah .. reminds me of the summer night i installed my racekit on front lawn - i the dark, windy w/ torch in mouth ..

started bike (all this before tps reset) - WOAH! NOW it sounds like a bike!

road down road & felt VERY naughty .. local bike hangout was on notice as i rounded corner .. hit the gas & front wheel lifted & stay lifted .. changed into 2nd - quick drop of front wheel w/ head shake followed by front wheel in air again ..

but HOLY CRAP, the acceleration was what startled me .. i had NO idea it would make THAT much difference ..

sadly, how quick we get used to it & seek more & now look at me .. i wanna race it!

YEE HAAAWWWWW!!!!
