I drove my City X from Atlantic City NJ area to Lake Placid friday afternoon (12:40 pm) and got to Ausable Inn in Keene Valley at 8:30 pm. Four Hundred and Five miles. It was packed to the gills with water, food, and clothes. I loved every minute of it. My buddy met me there with his brand new Ulysess that he trailered up. We spent the next day riding the mountain roads, up whiteface mountain all over Wilmington and upper jay, jay and the like. I ended up with 525 miles in 2 days. I will try and post some of the pics. My buddy bought the 2006 and ordered the hard bags and the camo paint scheme plastics for the bike. He will be selling the yellow plastics and the regular seat shortly. We trailered the bikes back and got stuck in a sh!t load of traffic. I love my City Cross especially with the saddle, trunk and tank bags attatched. With the TPS reset, the K&N filter and the ecm along with the Drummer I just am so happy with the purchase. I've wanted a street bike for so long. I cant believe I waited until I was 38 to finally get one. Maybe that is a good thing. I now have over 2500 miles on the bike since early May and by the way I still have a complete fractured collarbone that is slowly healing. SHHHHHHH! Don't tell my orthopedic doc.

Tank - That sounds like an awesome trip. post pics or a link when you get a chance. I went to college up that way - Paul Smith's - and I hope to go for a couple day ride up there - preferably in the fall. I too have a CityX and I'd like to see how you loaded it down.

yup - I use my CityX as a 'do everything' machine as well. adventure riding on dirt/forest service roads, solo hooliganism, & 'sport-touring'. I did Kelowna BC to Calgary AB, and back, with a few side-trips last weekend - 1800kmn in 3 days. had everything from 35*C heat, sleet + hail, to a roadside wildfire on the trip!! CityX is awesome if the ergo's are right for you. I'm approaching 12,000km in 3 months!!

just out of curiosity, what bags do you use? I've got the Buell tankbag, saddle-bags, and small 'wedge' bag, plus I add a leather duffle bag across the top for longer trips. ( mostly to keep my camping gear under control)

My 04XB12S is my main mode of transportation also. I ride in everything but snow (it gets deep here) and with the right tires, bike running great, I can drive through anything. I love taking my XB on long hauls and camping. I can't believe how comfortable it is! When I first looked at it I thought simple commuter but not anymore! I've put 4000 miles in the last two months, even changed my oil in Fort Collins Colorado because I was due during my trip. Camped in Guernsey State park and the bike never once gave me grief. One of my friends with me had an 06 Kawasaki Ninja and he overheated for some reason. I told him - should of got a Buell!

I recently did a 5-day trip on my Firebolt (see my trip report on Sport-Touring.Net), and several 2- and 3-day trips as well. No problems, the bike handles long distances nicely. I've tweaked the ergos with a Helibars top triple and Lightning pegs (I only changed the pegs because I broke one--I was fine with the stockers, but the Helibars is indispensible for me).
