I have the darnedest luck!

Just got off the phone with Justin and Greg at Stone Mountain Buell. I was calling to make sure everything was go for my Saturday pick up. Didn't expect any problems....

Turns out a customer was backing their truck in to drop off their own bike and got too close to where my Ss was parked. His rear tire rubbed against my front, and tipped it over into another bike! Doh!

Greg said he's repaired everything and will show me what all was damaged in the fall. Hopefully they found everything, else my 4 hour round trip down there Saturday will be wasted.

Can anyone familiar with the S.M. garage tell me why a truck was allowed to back that far in, rather than unloading outside??? *Grrrr.....*

It was probably parked outside near the shop entrance. They can't keep all the bikes inside. It would make sense if you could see it. I'm sure they'll take care of you. They're good people.

The bike parking is outside and that is also the coolest spot b-cause it is covered. You will be taken care of.

Accidents happen. It's how they react to the accident that matters. Sounds like they are being very professional about it. It sucks, but I would shrug it off.

I just took my bike into Eastside Harley to get it serviced and the next day I noticed a crack around the bolt of the translucent body work, kind of like a ding on a windshield. I phoned it in and they apologized, ordered a new one, and put it on - no questions asked.

I had to waste another trip up there to have them put it on, but at least they tried to make it right.

I deal with customers a lot and maybe I'm too understanding because of the line of work I'm in. Things happen.

Your bike was parked outside in the ready for pick up line, which was where I'm assuming the other guys bike was as well. We don't have a lift, so we have ramps that adjoin in the parking lot next door. Greg and Justin are outstanding guys who do whatever it takes to make things right. I park my bike in the same area as the customer service bikes and I worry that someone might hit it while i'm inside. But hey, that's why they have shop insurance and spare parts. See me in parts Saturday and I'll help you look over your bike.

Toona,

They reattached my original "X" - I don't have a spare.

I worked at a garage way back when, where one of the grease monkeys dropped a 4x4 blazer off of a lift 6 feet in the air. The owner never knew. I didn't work there long after that. You should be thankful for SMHD's integrity.

Yeah, I'm glad they told me. I'm not really worried about it, but it does suck. If my bike's gonna' get banged up, I'd like to be the one responsible (though at least this way I don't have to pay for the repairs....).

Think the customer responsible pooped in his pants when he realized what he'd done?

Smokescreen, I saw your bike out there when I dropped mine off. Looks fantastic in person, better than the pics here on Badweb! I didn't know you worked there at the time or I woulda' popped in to say hello. I'll be sure to hunt you down this weekend. =)
