Well, Since the REVO engine is a no-go.
here's my thinking, Harley just introduced the new TC96' engine, its now in all thier bikes, except of course the sportster and VRCSA lines...

I'm thinking the 88' is going to be the new Buell powerplant, mass wise, its very similar to a sportster, it aint too tall or heavy(reletively speaking).

IF Erik Buell got 104 Horesepower outta a 1200CC...i'm thinking we will see our wanted 125 HP sportbike from Buell, also with gobs of torque.

What ya think? Am I smoking something here or maybe i'm sniffing something thats in the wind??

There isn't a HD motor out there that is not WAY too BIG for these bikes other than these Sportster-based powerplants. IMO

The current chassis has the swingarm pivot in the engine case. The twin cam motor does not use a single, solid structural casing

The twin cam just isn't suited for our bikes either. It's still too long front to back, and the chassis would need to cradle
the motor. I think there will be a new motor, and it will be as different from the H-D motors as the revolution is.

I expect the next generation Buell to be as radical as the XB was, and still is. The Japanese are lining up to copy it for a reason.
It Works, and works WELL.

Jeefn,

Yeah, sorry to say that's another totally cruiser motor. It is in fact even heavier and bigger than the V-Rod motor. Like Diablo says, it's also long, and is not a unit case so it can't be used as a stressed member of the chassis. It also has the cardinal sportbike sin of having the entire clutch and primary ouboard of the final drive, so there is now way to put on a wide tire and get any lean angle.

Bring the Ecosse out to a race track, or to a real sportbike shootout. Unlike choppers, the proof is in the vehicle performance, not the looks. So until it starts winning races, it's a chopper.

If the theories about the next Buell powertrain are getting as off the wall as H-D Big Twins, why limit it to H-D powertrains at all?

It must be the beer talking,

Hey Curtyd, the XBRR already has a number of wins, including its first race ever entered at Daytona. So your point is? That you are ignorant of this? That you know that and want to be a troll anyhow?

When I was there I only saw the "200" DNF's, you made the quote about non-race winners being "only choppers", not me. They are doing pretty bad in FX, the class they were homologated and targeted for.

I hope they get better.. we'll still have to wait and see, don't we?

It isn't much of a WINNER yet, so in YOUR BOOK that makes it a CHOPPER. Be careful the terms you non-chalantly throw out, if you don't want them coming "back at ya."

Curtyd,sorry, I don't see them coming back at me. Give up defending your statement, because it makes no sense. That would be like saying Rossi is riding choppers now since he hasn't been winning. Or saying the Kawasaki and Suzuki 600s and the Ducati 749 are choppers because they haven't won this year in FX.

The RR was built to race in many classes, the FX just gave an extra push because that class gave a top level pro category for Buell to win in. No we didn't win FX yet but we may, and the RR has and will be competing in and winning many classes this year, and in years to come. I assure you the Ecosse won't. Because you can't make a real sportbike out of a Big Twin, which is where we started.

Dear ANONYMOUS;

I guess engineering may be your forte, not english language, is this not the quote you used above?

"Unlike choppers, the proof is in the vehicle performance, not the looks. So until it starts winning races, it's a chopper."

How many wins, 1-2-3, podium finishes, in how many entries, EXACTLY, is it?

So what did your chopper comment mean exactly? I just borrowed it, YOU authored it. Maybe I misunderstood it, but it seemed clear enough.

Curtyd,

My logic and the facts are clear and simple. You are ineducable. Such is life for some. Revel in your ignorance. It's your right.

AHHH... name calling and insinuations with a retreat to the final bastion of unsupported arguments, "Anonymous is right because he SAYS he is".

Must be in Engineering MGT., or Sales "Engineer", probably not even a true "tech".

AND....
NOT very neatly dodged answering any direct questions, I'll repeat them for you;

READ slowly you might MISS it again;

"is this not the quote you used above?"

" How many wins, 1-2-3, podium finishes, in how many entries, EXACTLY, is it? " and...

"So what did your chopper comment mean exactly? I just borrowed it, YOU authored it."
