Hey guys,

My name is Sean and I just got a pretty good deal on an '06 CityX here in SoCal. I've been looking at this bike for a year and finally pulled the trigger. I have been riding cafe Sportsters (my other bike is an '04 Sports w/rearsets and clipons, NRHS 1250 Stage 3, 1200S suspension, etc.) and felt it was time to add a Buell to the garage. The Buell is everything I wanted the Sportster to be, who knows, maybe I'll sell the Sporty now? BTW, I am fairly active at XLForum if anyone is also over there.

So the first 50 miles were the hardest because I picked the bike up near San Diego and had to ride home to huntington Beach. 50mph on the I-5 is highly NOT recommended, ha ha.

The only problem I have has was with the first tank of fuel. After about 100 miles, and before the low fuel light ever came on, the bike kept sputtering and stalling. it would restart and die. So I pulled in to the gas station anyway and put in 2 gallons of Chevron's best. Problem went away. I am wondering if since the bike sat at the dealer so long (it was made in Dec '05) that the gas was going bad. Once I filled it up with fresh gas, problem has not come back. So, hopefully that'll be the last issue.

Run another Chevron premium load through it. I always search for Chevron premium. Even run it in the racebike except in extreme heat.

If after another tank, you still have issues, take it to GLENDALE HD/Buell!!! They'll get it fixed (assuming you still are under warranty. They're Buell fanatics and will treat you right.

I had my S3 parked in the garage more than a year and just got it back to street-legal in time for the ride to Laguna Seca. Ran pretty bad til I got a fresh tank of Chevron premium - also changed plugs (but the plugs already had 20K miles)

You wanna ride with our mob? Pretty good bunch of folks out of Glendale. Getting back to a last-Sunday-of-each-month ride. No reckless riding allowed on the group rides so it stays FUN.

Thanks guys, bike is BRAND new, picked it up with 5 miles on it. So yeah, warranty is good for 2 years, as you know. I only use Chevron in my bikes, best stuff you can get IMHO.

I'd love to ride with the Glendale mob, I have heard good things from Chis Matty about you guys (I usually ride with the guys from SoCalBikeNuts, SoCalSportsters, and Cafe_XL on Yahoo, like Cafe_Bill, Timbo, Jim in SB, etc.). I am going to need some practice on the new bike before I am comfortable, though. I am not a balls out knee dragger, my style is riding "The Pace" and the CityX is the most perfect "pace bike" I have ever been on! I love it.

WE ARE NOT balls-out knee draggers!

Sure some of the folks are pretty quick but we're talking about breaking into two groups precisely BECAUSE we want to encourage the newer (new to sportbikes that is) to come out and have fun.

We're talking about starting up together at Glendale and just agreeing that in the "ticketless" group - agreeing to meet at each intersection for a re-group. That way nobody feels like they're holding anybody up or feels like they have to hurry.

Some of the slowest of us street riders are the licensed racers. There's just no need to experience the guardrails as intimately as can happen when hitting the gravel or rocks (nearly every ride will see a couple places with loose stuff)

I've volunteered to lead the "ticketless" group.

Goal is all have fun and we ALL re-join for coffee and lunch but ride separately in 2 groups.

NOTE: I didn't refer to us as "slower" - but calling ourselves "ticketless" Much lower stress riding, far fewer war stories.

Come on out!

Last Sunday of the month. We've been behind schedule with Tim and Candice's Mom passing away and me being in Texas almost full-time the past 3 months.

Stay in touch. The Storm Fronts thread is usually where the rides are posted and we're updating our direct mailing list.

Awesome Slaughter! I appreciate the invite. I'll check out the link and get on the list. It sounds like the perfect group for me.

I travel a lot for work, but I'll get out there and meet you guys as soon as I can, probably September.

Travel for work???

Friday I leave for Milwaukee - the next Monday PM it's from MKE to Fort Worth for a week, then a week in CA then back to Ft Worth for another week.

The magic of travelling sure wears thin!

Saw that on your profile.

Friend of mine sells ads (Accounts Mgr) - and travels his assoff - for 2 Wheel Tuner - Stewart Goddard. Does all that from a wheelchair too.

I have to write but just to a small audience - but that's just an occupational hazard of my day job, helps pay the bills.
