Well I haven't gone to a parking lot and started to try this on my own yet. I wanted some advice on how you do this from the experienced wheeliers on here. I have accidentaly gotten the front wheel off the ground shifting from 1st to 2nd.lol What rpm do you rev to before popping the clutch in 1st, 2nd and maybe 3rd? Is it better to get the front wheel up when shifting between gears or while you are already in gear? I have a lot of fun just riding the bike on 2 wheels but I would like to be able to ride on 1 occasionally.

1) wear good equipment
2) don't screw around near traffic, you can recover from a slow speed fall but if a cager runs you over afterwards your dead.
3) Keep your foot glued to your rear brake, go practice on a small Honda 50 or even bicycle to get the reaction time down. Rear brake control is the key.
4) you can clutch or bounce wheelies. When you get better you'll learn to bounce them, which is much better on the clutch.
5) when clutching, remember not to dump the clutch.....your feathering it.
6) have fun, take it slow, have someone with you. It's just like a sport, it takes practice and time only difference is that if you drop a football or miss a basket it doesn't cost you 10K in bike repair and medical.

I also agree with the list. get a small dirt bike (50/80) to practice on. they are cheap and are made to take the fall.

your buell is not made to fall. it will cost you money and down time IF YOU DROP IT. keep that factor in the back of your head.

Just got 3rd gear standups down. Bouncing (no clutch)method. I'm a happy camper now.

Use the search function for Wheely/Wheelie threads in the XB Board and you will find a ton. There is a lot info in those threads. Yes you can do 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear wheelies on your XB. 12rdude, be carefull bouncing 3rd with no clutch like that. There is a reason that stunters use the clutch, and it is for more control. I use a small bounce to compress the spring and then drop the clutch in 3rd. It is very predictable and comes up every time without having to beat on the bike.

I run a xb9s and run first up pretty high and shift hard to second, and then get it to the balance point and try to ride it as long as I can. I cant get this bike to shift in the air like my old jap machines- good luck be safe.

Thanks olinxb12r, ya I've been riding wheelies on the Jap bikes for near 8 years now. I've actually found bouncing to be alot smoother and predictable than the clutch. I see so many people dump the clutch and flip. Clutch vs bouncing seems to be one of those preference things like the Belt vs Chain threads. Yep, wheelies are fun but be safe most of all.
