Just picked up an 05 citycross last week and drove it to work today. The fan kicked on and I didn't think anything of it. But when I was getting ready to go home the dang thing wouldn't start. The battery seemed drained. Anyway the question is will the fan drain your battery or does it shut off at a certain point to keep from killing the battery?

Fan shuts off at a pre determined temperature, or it's supposed to anyway.

Are you sure the battery is drained, not an interlock switch keeping it from starting?

does the fuel pump whine and gages sweep when you turn the key on?

Is it possible you accidentally turn the key to the park position (leaving some lights on) when you shut the bike off?
I've done this one before. terribly embarrassing.

Another thing, check fuses, and check for loose or corroded battery terminals. These things never seem to act up at home.

To light up the tail without the headlight when you have a blow-out on the highway in the middle of the night?

Trust me it happens. I'm going to rig up a hazard lights circuit because of that incident.

why why why would you have this
If you were in Europe the answer would be, to keep you legal.
If you have an XB*S look between the head lamps, there's a light socket.
It turns on when you're in park.
I put a blue bulb in mine.

Is there any equivalent on the R, or a wire I could tap?
I'd like to hook up some LEDs in the front that light in Park.

I'm sure there is, I just don't know where, not having an R, I have no way to look.

The wiring and socket are not in the headlight harness and the hole is not drilled in the housing for the socket on the US R models. It's all there for the US Lightning models except for the bulb.

It happens on other bike brands as well.
