I just purchased a Scott's reusable oil filter on line. I bought it more for looks than anything. It should look cool partially showing underneath my chin fairing. Has anyone else heard good or bad about these. I know they are much smaller micron screens, this doesn't affect oil flow or pressure I hope. Thanks guys.

Oh, I forgot to mention I won it new on Ebay for about $50 less than to buy it from Scott's, so I thought that was cool.........

It's nice to see that I was beat out by a fellow badwebber. Did you just win that today or yesterday? I bid on it and then forgot about. I think it will look great with a drummer ss and without the chin fairing.

Dude,
Very nice looking oil filter.

However, before using it, you might just want to do a little research on it.

Several testers have warned against using them, and my nephew Ben, who knows everything, says "Don't".

Here is a pretty informative review of how it works or rather, doesn't work.

Don't feel bad, just put it back up on eBay.

I read that article and I'm not sure that it means don't use this filter. He talked about going over two thousand miles without changing his filter. I change mine on the Buell about every 1K at very least, so I'm not to worried about it getting clogged as long as I do that. Thanks for all the info, very interesting.

keep in mind that this is some guy on the internet. no real facts have been discussed nor any real tests have been done with these filters. take it for what it is...good reading.

i have had mine since i bought the bike. i change my oil regularly(1000-1500 miles tops). use amsoil every time. i have had absolutely no problems at all. i like the idea of it catching such little particles. when i clean it i use the air compressor with a small tube attachment i made to fit inside the filter to blow things out. it is very clean when done.

only drawback i can think of is the acids that build up in oil. some papper filters filter some of this out, but changing oils as often as i do i have no worries.
