Stopped at a local non Buell dealer on a tip of a XB taken in on a trade. Looking to get one for a full time race bike. Have to get rid of the Duc first.
Long story semi short, I see it in the used bike section. 05 with 1200 miles.
Start looking a little closer and can tell the bike has been down on the right side.
Dent in headers. Front brake lever bent. Right mirror scraped up. Walk around the back off the bike and I see this:

Sorry for the crappy camera phone pic. Anyway I'll post more pics later. Swing arm has very little damage. Just a very light scrape on the bottom. Front rim has a nice gouge on the lip. Rear brake pedal ground down a little. Tension Pulley
looks like it took a good whack, but looks straight.
From my understanding a local Buell dealer was going to purchase the bike then backed out and the dealer that has it now was going to try to get their new bike back that they sold with this as the trade in.
Guess that isn't going to happen. When I looked from the back to the front pulley, the belt was just about off, running very close to the motor. What do you guys think the problem is?! I'm thinking the Tensioner is bent, but if it were that simple, you'd think the Buell dealer would have taken it off their hands. As soon as I get the rest of the pics off my phone I'll post to give you a better look.

Could be the cam, but it does look bent, throw it up on a rear stand and spin the wheel.

If it is true then the idler is jacked...

And don't worry about a dealer not taking it, these are the same people that when you ask for a gasket for a Buell they look like you punched their mom, but you ask for the same gasket for a sporty an they are all over it....

BTW how is the jacket doin ;)

Swingarm pivot bent. This happened someone else on the board just weeks ago. Maybe he'll chime in. Its fixable Rocco.

I don't know. Just seems way out of shape for hardly any visible damage.

Sons still loves the jacket.

that crap in the first photo on the pulley is actually the belt wearing off on the pulley.

If they cut a killer deal, and I mean real killer, I'd buy it and fix it.

Take your rear stand in and spin the wheel both ways. Having the bike sitting straight up might also make it easier to see if something is out of whack.

my $.02

swingarm is cocked hard to the left. dont know if swingarm itself is damaged, or if it is just the pivot bearings or shaft. nice parts bike if the price is right.

Maybe when it went down something pushed the belt to the left hard enough to make it jump up in the lip of the rear pulley? It may be straight...

If you can get to the bike, try working the belt to the other edge of the pulley and then give the rear tire a spin. See if the belt gets pulled back to the inside of the pulley... You may not want to do this with them watching you as the price may shoot up when they realize the bike is straight.

Problem is I don't think I could even get the bike out of there to throw it up on a stand and check it out' I think I'll go in Monday and just ask them straight out what they want and what THEY think is wrong.

Rocco tell them before they have the chance to tell you anything what you... do know that is wrong. Belt, tensioner, and the possibility of pivot shaft and bearings and the worst a swingarm. Then see what they have to say??

So...You're saying that there is not enough room where it is parked to throw a pit bull under the back and eyeball down the belt?(or what's left of the belt)

Then again, if you are not comfortable with the bike now, and trying to fix it, you may never be comfortable with it on the track, even if it is ok.

They have the bike shoe horned in the back row of used bikes. Seems like they're trying to display it but not let you get a close look. I actually moved some bikes out of the way to get a look. The sales people didn't look to happy, but F them. You'd think if anyone showed some interest they'd be trying to unload the bike.
