anyone else seen this on the motogp website? it is really radical.....opinions? im curious what you all think.......i want it.....its definately a looker....its a roland sands design.....if that tells you anything.......cant find any pics of it yet...just some video clips on motogp.com | ||

Just found this on partsmag.com "KENNY ROBERTS AND ROLAND SANDS DESIGN TEAM UP TO UNVEIL A WORLD'S FIRST AT LAGUNA SECA Former AMA MotoGP Champion Turned Motorcycle Designer Teams Up with Three-Time MotoGP World Champion to Build the World's First MotoGP Powered Custom Motorcycle La Palma, CA, July XX, 2006 - Motorcycle designer Roland Sands and MotoGP legend Kenny Roberts will unveil the World's First MotoGP powered custom motorcycle in the Team Roberts paddock at Laguna Seca Raceway on July 21, 2006. The creative collaboration, dubbed the KRV5 Tracker, was first discussed a year ago in the same location, which will now serve as the backdrop for the motorcycle's unveiling. Following the much anticipated unveiling, Roberts will take the KRV5 Tracker for an exhibition lap beginning at 12:40pm on Saturday, July 22nd. The KRV5 Tracker boasts a five piston, 200 horsepower engine, engineered by Team Roberts at their United Kingdom facility. The geometry, stance, and design lines are provided by Sands and are reminiscent of a 1914 Boardtracker. While using modern technology and high-performance products, the KRV5 tracker has a 23" front tire, no front brake, a vintage Boardtrack racing seat and short handlebars - a nod to the past with an eye on the future. "Kenny Roberts is a legend and personal hero of mine," said Sands. "With the KRV5 engine and the Boardtracker cues, it was our intention to create a potent mix of racing tech and iconic style. The bike has no equal and I hope the entire motorcycle industry will appreciate the results." The project united the unparalleled racing history and technical know-how of Team Roberts with the groundbreaking performance design of RSD. Roberts was aware of Sands' road racing pedigree, but it was Sands' Discovery Channel Biker Build Off episode that turned Roberts onto Sands' talent as a motorcycle designer and builder. After an introduction to his childhood hero at the 2005 Laguna Seca Moto GP race, one of Roberts' KRV5 engines was on its way to Sands' La Palma, CA shop at Performance Machine. "Roland looks at the bike completely different than the way I look at it. He looks at it more as an art form...it's a totally different discipline, but I appreciate it," said Roberts. The legend's response to Sands' final design was simply "build it."" Nice, a RC211V powered 1914ish bike with no front brake. Umm... yeah, art. | ||

It's not powered by the RC211V. It's heart is the motor designed from a clean sheet by Robert's team of F1 veterans. Because the engineering challenges were so huge, and Roberts could not afford the R&D required to make it competitive he went looking for a motor supplier. He after a false start or 2 finally landed a deal with Honda. |
