Greets all!

Just purchased my first bike, a new '06 black XB12Ss. I picked it up in FL and trucked it back to Houston. I even convinced my friend to buy the '06 Valencia Orange Translucid XB12Scg they had so if anyone saw a red pickup with two new Buells in the back on I75 or I10 last Saturday, it was us. I am absolutely amazed we could close the tailgate, these are some compact bikes!

Still gotta break the bike(and me) in, it has a whole 4 miles on it and I'd never been on a bike before MSF 3 weeks ago.

Anyway, been reading the board for awhile now and look forward to learning more in the future.

Pwnzor - Why would I ever want to leave? From what I can tell, it looks like a good group here and the Buell satisfied my two requirements:

1) It's a V-twin
2) It's naked

My other choice was the Ducati, but the dealers around here are jerks(come to think of it, the Buell dealer in Houston hasn't been that great either) and I couldn't beat the deal in FL. I bought the Buell and couldn't be happier.

Illyhaskel - Thanks! Safety's a priority for me and I've got a lot of respect for this bike's power. Don't think I'll be shredding anything for awhile. : )

Chuckc - We bought our bikes from Paulie at HD Ocala. He spent time with us on the phone and acted like he wanted our business.

Incredible service from start to finish and I wouldn't hesitate to make the drive again(31 hours roundtrip including stops and paperwork) for my next HD or Buell.

Definitely recommend to all my friends.

Not me... I'd patiently wait until they stopped for gas... and commandeer their vehicle.

Hey Forerunner, I hope you are ready to give up your old life because now you will have no time for anything that doesn't involve riding, surfing this site and modifying your bike. I know I haven't. Seriously though, speaking from another "new guy", everybody on this site is great and they all have a wealth of information to share. They have helped me a lot. Ride safe.

Thanks all! The thought did occur to us that the value of the truck had just sharply risen by $18k so stops were kept quick : )

Gregg, I know what you mean, I've already ordered a couple of parts and am now looking at mufflers and tail chop kits.

At least you're not the FNG anymore!

Congrats! Get a set of frame pucks on that baby being you are a brand new rider (good idea for everyone, but esp a newbie - most riders will drop a bike at some point in time - good chance right at the beginning).

Snowhownd - Already on order! Also some black clutch & brake levers...

Any other suggestions are appreciated. Was also looking at some aluminum rear swingarm sliders I saw on a website. I think they were like $60 and had lift grooves.

swingarm, and front axle sliders. Dark Horse Moto has them

Also at least one extra set of rider's pegs. They tend to break in a tip-over.

Forerunner, I have the exact same bike as my first buell. I live in new york and almost bought mine from ocala too. They have great prices. Ended up getting mine at Bergen Harley in Jersey. They really like buells there. Will be taking mine in soon for the 1000 mile check up.

good luck.
