I've GOT to change out my grips... my right hand keeps going numb from the vibration. What do you guys recommend as the best vibe-reduction replacement grip?

Also, I read on here somewhere about how to remove the bar ends... I think they said just grab 'em with a pair of pliers and pull, but I'm afraid to test that one on memory alone. =P Can someone tell me what's involved (for the 12Ss), and maybe recommend a replacement end weight? Thanks!

I just installed the Buell "Torque" grips, and while I don't think they did much for the vibrations, the shape is excellent. Fits my hand very well. The bar ends just pull right out. I have heard of people using hayabusa bar ends for weight ballast.

i have the rizoma grips on mine. bad for hand numbing. the best grip i have used are the buell traction grips. excellent feel and comfort. hands went numb much less w/ them. i have also thought of filling my bars w/ some sort of rubber or something to help w/ vibration.

as for the bar ends. i like rizoma;s. you can just pull the ones that came stock out w/ a set of pliers. they pop right out. put tape on the pliers and keep them for future use if needed. hope this helps some.
GOOD LUCK!

Since you have an Ss with tubular bars you can get a barsnake for it. (google barsnake) I hear they work great.

Salamander barend weights are pretty hefty.
They say on their site that they are "a resonant frequency reducer, not a vibration dampener." But from what I hear they work pretty well.

I like the Buell traction grips. the "barrel" shape fits my hand nicely, and the rubber is thicker.

One of my future projects is bar-eand weights/sliders (replaceable delrin inserts in the end)

The aluminum bar ends are more about style than function. Go with stainless steel if you go that way.

Changing handlebar grips will give you a more comfortable grip but won't do much about vibration caused numbness.

There are several causes of this problem. One is simply holding the handlebars too tightly. Motorcycles handle better when the bars are held lightly, and many new riders hold on much too tightly.

Secondly, the handlebars have a resonant frequency that is excited by the engine. Reducing the amplitude and frequency of the bar vibrations can help reduce hand numbness. This can be accomplished by a variety of methods, all of which add mass to the handlebars.

There are heavy stainless steel bar ends out there, the Bar Snake, and other products. I made a rather effective damper from a 6 inch long 1/2" lead rod to add mass, wrapped in Sorbothane, an high hysteresis rubber that absorbs vibration. I just pushed this combination into the handlebar ends.

The standard mirrors, in addition to being useless for seeing astern, vibrate quite a bit themselves, and I don't think that helps the situation at all.

i put the fold in bar end mirrors on my bike and i noticed less vibration. i also noticed less vibration when i took the stock ones off and had no mirrors.

I have used the 'foam' sponge type grips in the past with alot of success in reducing fatigue, can simply put the existing bar ends back with these types of grips.

These along with some anti vibration bar ends work GREAT.
Takes a good hour of hard riding for the tingles to start(I think thats mostly from holding on too tight I'm working on holding on lighter)

Try www.HVMP.com for the bar end weights.

I'm using Traction grips currently and second everything Brian wrote about them. Plus, they include a throttle sleeve and installation glue and they're relatively CHEAP. Al's got 'em for $17 or so, IIRC.
