Last ride fuel light came on 5 miles from home.
No big deal, rode it home n haven't rode it for 2 days.
Figure I'll fill it up today.
11 miles to the gas station, reset the trip1 display (138 miles),Fill it to the top,(Not overfilled but to the top).
As I put the gas cap back in I realize its puking gas out the overflow vent,No big deal little too much gas,Then it KEEPS puking.
WAAAAY too much for just a little overfill.
Go to start it up,Turn the key lights come on, flip the switch fuel pump whines,Hit the starter.....NOTHING.
No clik no chirp nothing.
Call the wife to bring the truck n ramps.
STILL puking gas on the kickstand waiting for her.
Load the bike n drive home n it was STILL puking from the overflow.

WTFF IS GOING ON WITH THIS CRAP?!

I swear if I didn't still owe on it I'd sell it today just so I don't have to worry about wtf is next.

Sounds like you have a geni in your tank. Can I come over and fill up?

Sorry I am a bad man. Good luck with the problem. I don't have a clue about that one.

I've never heard of one puking fuel out of the vent beyond what was overfilled. Even
if it was siphoning if you opened the gas cap it would break the vacuum.

As far as the not starting, I'd check the connections at the battery, the relay, and
then the starter. The problems shouldn't be related.

I don't really think the 2 are related either,Unless theres a blockage or something.
But if it was just a loose wire or something why do the headlights dashlights n fuel pump all kick on when there supposed to?

The start circuit is separate from the others.

The starter was recently replaced too.
Damnit now I gotta go get greasy and read some stuff.

And OF COURSE the ONE connector that you can actually SEE connected to the starter isn't loose.

Not sure about the fuel thing but don't the 03s have that kick stand switch that sometimes goes haywire? I'm not too familiar with it & I can't remember if it caused the engine to not start at all or just simply die upon clutch engagement.

When I had a chaffed wire that would always blow my ign fuses, the dash & lights would come on like it was supposed to as well.

I'm dumb when it comes to bike mechanics but I'm thinking starter relay if not the fuse.

Had problems with mine the other week, would not start and not even a click- turned out to be the switch on the clutch lever. Unclip the switch and make sure theres no crap in there. Worth a try matey
Don't give up on the Buell just yet , it could be worse you could own a DUCATI LOL

My kickstand switch kills it when you let out the clutch.(how embarassing I just stalled it in front of all these people)
I thought about that in the parking lot n fiddled with the wiring down there but didn't see or feel anything abviously wrong.
Now that I'm thinking about burnt wires n fuses n stuff I remember smelling it the last few times I rode.
Kinda made me think about it at the time but I jus chalked it up to someone else stinking like burning electronics.

MAAAAAAAAAAAN I HAAAAAAAATE hunting down electrical crap.
I got 20$ says its something at or near something the dealer replaced.(1 headlight, 1 headlight assembley, 1 voltage regulator, and lastly was the starter,((these were all replaced in order to attempt to find out why I kept blowing headlights and my battery wouldn't hold a charge))

Now that sheds a little light on the situation.

I'd check the connections at the starter.

Checked the clutch switch.(cuz its easy to get to) n thats not it,Next is the kickstand (cuz its kinda easy to get to).
Just don't feel like getting greasy n dealing with it right now so I'm not.
The only connector that you can see at the starter seems seated fine.

If you still got the o3 model, would the fuel be spit out maybe have shorted the kickstand kill switch? I'd say check the fuses for this system, ie-fuel pump, ignition.....then go unplug the sidestand switch and snoop around. Dry it off good and try starting her up. Might even try to bypass the switch just to see if that IS the problem. Keep us updated

I don't think it would have since the vent line is behind the left side rearset and the kickstand connection is in front of it.
Sometime today I plan on tearing into the kickstand switch n poking around the starter connections.
I'm not 100% sure but I think your supposed to lower the engine to replace the starter.
I asked the tech when he did mine if he did lower it and he said "naw theres plenty of room in there".
Hopefully him being lazy didn't get the wires in a bad place or sumthin like that.

Bleh just got done poking around n couldn't find anything obviously melted or unplugged so I called the dealer,They sending a guy with a truck n gonna look at it.
Now I just hope it's covered under my ex warranty since it's more than likely a result of their warranty work.
