Alrighty,
I currently have a blue 03' XB9R and in two days I make the decision to either upgrade to the 06' XB9R or whatever 07' brings for the 9R.
I really like the yellow bodywork but the white rims seems to be an odd color choice for the bike. I plan on getting the white portion powdercoated black this Winter but don't want to deal with the "that looks girlie" comments until then . Is there any other guys out there scooting around on this particular ride?
I have seen the pics of the bike with the white background but would like to see pics of it in real life to see if the rims stand out.
Also, if I buy the bike I would happily accept trades for either black powdercoated rims or the silver rims BHAHAHAHA!!

Definately waiting to see what 07 brings. Course if it ain't nothing spectacular then I'm back in the same position of is the yellow and white combo too feminine.
A good buddy of mine is already raggin' on it but I think he's just mad because he ain't getting a new one this year and is stuck with his clunker HEHEHEHEEE!!

I'd wait. why the 2 day deadline? sounds like someone is trying to offer you a "deal"
before the value drops on the new 06's to me. coincidence that the new models are going
to be announced this weekend? I doubt it. I'd wait if it were me.

Personnaly I'm holding on to my 20th anniversary (2003) XB.

I expect the silver anniversary (2008) Buells to be the next
revolutionary (vs. evolutionary) year.

That's just the ramblings of a lunatic mind though. YMMV

that would look pretty good with black rims to match the black windscreen. Even better if it had a black frame.

My $.02

Wazza,
That thing looks sweet man! I notice you went with the solid black windshield which is on my list of first mods if I get it. The yellow primary imspection covers are a nice touch as well. Did you strip them and have them powdercoated or go with paint?
Any more pics of the bike (different angles, action shots, etc.)would be outstanding if you get a chance.

Diablo,
No rush on the purchase other than needing to make my decision and get the breakin miles done before my trip to the Dragon at the beginning of September. The two day decision is one I set myself since the new line up will be announced Friday. I figure by then I will know if the 07' is worth waiting for or go ahead with the 06'. Of the three dealers I have checked with none of them are going to offer me a discount on the 06' even after the new models hit the floor. They will be the EXACT same price! I ain't complaining though because they are giving me above book value for mine on trade in.
By the way if mine looked like yours I'd be holding on to it as well. Yours ranks as one of the nicest I've seen.

yellow and white...possibly the worst color combination ive seen yet....black rims and frame woulda been sooo nice....but i guess u cant get everything huh...ive been trying to figure out if i should keep the rims white and go with black bodywork or powder coat the rims and frame for some time now....i thought black and white might be cool...but i like black and yellow....good luck man think of it as an open canvas..all ur missing is imagination and motivation....

Hatchet,
I'm hearing ya' brother! I like yellow and black myself. Comes from being a fan of the group Stryper back in the 80s'. By your screen name I bet you probably know who I'm talking about .
So far I got you and another dude riding one and from his pic and your profile pic it doesn't look that bad.
Got anymore pics you could share to help me decide?

my yellow and black goes back to my yamaha and suzuki days when i was racin dirt bikes...was yellow and red for a while but i kept switching bikes so much i just stuck with yellow and black for a while...but um..ya i remember stryper hahahaha ...i was thinkin of doing a crow themed bike ie. white and black...i figured it was easier to change the body work than powder coat the wheels and frame....ive seen pics of a yellow xb with polished frame and wheels that looked nice but im a fan of black...havent seen a black framed black wheeled 9 yet maybe someone could photoshop one i bet it would look good....

Torts, Paying full retail for an '06 is a slap in the face. Get 'em to throw in an extended warranty or tires. Man you have to get something, it seems everyone else is. Hey do you get much fishin up in them mountains? STUN

man!

I love that, it's a little like the S2. Buell's are alway a little off with color but then agine there always a little off in style also.

I have or shall I say had same combo on mine. The white rims actually look good but are a pain in the azz to keep clean. I recently painted the white areas black and left the polished surface alone. Will take pics and post them once the rain stops.

Luvthemtorts, could you try to work a wheel swap into the deal? or just buy the villain black wheels, have the dealer install and eBay the white ones? that's what i did with the hideous amber wheels. (my opinion of course) ;)

my last bike was yellow and black... not a Buell but i miss my Lil Hornet some days. sweet color combo.

Typeone,
I just noticed that Buell offers black rims on one of the Lightnings. I bet that combo would look SWEET! Once I make my decision I will definately see what the dealer can do for me on getting a pair.

Hammer,
I would greatly appreciate the pics of your scoot since I ain't real good with Photoshop. I tried all night to make the wheels black with no luck. I did manage to black out the areas that would be covered by the pucks, tankbra and black windscreen. Started to look like a pretty mean machine LOL!

Nuts,
We got some excellent fishing up here. I took a buddy of mine who had never done river fishing before and turned him into a fishing maestro in only 3 outings. He does have a bad habit of hooking into HUGE fish but never landing them .
Not real steady on his feet either when it comes to remaining upright on the slippery rocks HEHEHEHEE!!

Nutsosane,
You are correct I was talking about that fella'. You shoulda heard him during Turkey season. Worst callin' I have ever heard, passing wind loudly every 5 minutes, squirming around. The worst thing was he kept missing! I called one in for him and he missed. Called in another (which would have been mine if he hadn;t missed the first one) and he missed it too. Luckily he got it with a super lucky follow up shot. He is getting better under my tutelage though.

Buelltroll,
If you are serious about trading rims I will let you know when I get it and we can proceed from there. If 07' doesn't bring any changes it should be in my possession by next Friday or so (they are bringing it down from another dealer for me).
Are your rims in good shape? No bends, scratches, run true, etc.?
By the way, THANKS FOR THE PICS!!

Less than 24 hours and I should know which new bike I'll be getting! May not be exciting for you guys but this will be the first NEW bike I have ever bought that I didn't have to put together LOL!
I am just about to burst with the excitement. I don't expect big changes for 07' but just the idea of getting a fresh new mount is making me lose sleep.

Buelltroll,
I'll send you a PM when the deal is done to let you know whats going on. If we do the trade are you ready to go or would you want to wait until riding season is over?

It seems pretty exciting to me : )
Don't worry, after you get it it'll only take a few months to quench the need to run out in the wee hours of the night just to ogle it.

So in anticipation of the grand day let me say CONGRATS on the new bike!

Actually not my bike Luvthemtorts, but I think the yellow does look quite good on a XB. I like it on the 9S also. (I have a black/silver '04 S myself) I think matt black wheels on a silver frame XB would look quite good with either yellow or black body work - I had a black 1998 Speed Triple with the silver tube frame and matt black wheels and it was a mean look IMO.

Fish or cut bait. They are out and the XB12R comes in yellow with black wheels. And no Dunlops. You start talking this and that 06 price will start coming down....Charlie

I may be weird but I like the 9's yellow with the silver frame & black engine more than I like the 12's yellow with the grey frame & magnesium engine.
If I was the lucky bastid buying a 9R I'd try to get a good enough deal on a 06 9R to at least compensate for the price of some black wheels.

Or one could just buy an '06 yellow 9r in mint condition with only 436 miles. I have gone to the used market and seen what is there...and it is good! $6500 seem fair? Done deal brutha! NUTS

$6500 for an 06 9r with only 436 miles?!?

I'd say that's one hell of a steal!

That obviously can't be in CA.
All you 49 staters have all the luck when it comes to getting deals on bikes.

I'm not jealous, merely envious
