Little odd when I put my kickstand down...it does NOT kill the engine!!
Is that normal for a buell The other night I started up the bike with the clutch in because it was in gear but when I went to take-off heard a noise and realized the kick stand was still down. Normal???

I've heard about kickstand kill switches, but mine certainly never had one. (checks service manual...) nothing in here either.

03's had the kickstand kill switches. 04+ do not.

My 03 has a kickstand interlock, but the 04 and later bikes do not. Instead, they have a stand which is designed to retract if you turn left with it down, supposedly without incident...

Personally, I prefer having the interlock (even if it is a bit different than what I'm used to--the bike will run in gear with the stand down, it only dies when you let out the clutch). I assume the decision to remove the interlock has to do with the number of riders who disable it anyway...

I was just outside bored and was messing around (before this was posted) experimenting to see whether mine had one of not... and it doesn't (06).

been there done that, wish it had a kickstand switch. rode off in a hurry go left and all of a sudden a weird feeling goes over the bike. DAMN KICKSTAND!!!!!! ('05 City) (knock on wood) haven't had a spill due to kickstand error. but recently the pivot bolt broke (may have jarred it loose) then one day bolt backed out far enough to break it.
