coming back from Laconia hit downpour after having to buy some 90 octane gas at only station available. next day screwed up left key on and deadened battery..jump started it went home and put it on trickle charger. Had lots of rain and no days off been two weeks sitting in garage. When I went to start it..cranked with out starting in first couple seconds...ummmmmmmmm never did this before...when it quit popping and started it has sluggish points in the power curve and feels like running rough then runs fine until next acceleration. Any ideas whats up?

Check your plug wires for moisture.
Also if you think you got bad gas, don't fill it up with good yet, run it as far empty before you fill up with good.

i would drain as much out of tank as possible. even though gas prices suck right now i would just get it out of the tank and start with some fresh gas.

Just blast through the crappy gas on the highway.

Do as Glitch said, run it as low as you dare before filling up.

I have had bad gas so many times that I can't count them.

A couple weeks ago, in SC on my Harley, I bought some 87 octane, as it was all they had. A fuel injected bagger doesn't like that, but I just put some in, no issues. It will make your spark plugs red, though.

I washed my bike and it wouldn't start.. had to jump it.. Someone mention it could have been the stator being wet could have caused this..




As far as the motor...Drain the tank..... I got a bad batch of gas in Louisiana when I was coming home buying my bike.. It eventually got so bad the bike decided not to ride the bike any more.. I ended up having it towed to the nearest dealer..

That night I put STP in it and topped it with a known good gas.. In the morning It ran fine, But being on the road and I took it to the dealer to be checked out.. No problems..


Bad gas always makes Good lawn mower gas....

the connector for the stator could have been holding water

Now that I'm thinking about think I'm going to go out and tape up that bad boy..

9 times out of 10 its the front spark plug wire that has rub on the inside of the frame and the SPARK will ground out there ... sometimes abit and alot after a wash job etc.. FWIW...
or just a bad plug wire in General...

One more reason to never wash your bike. If it's washing weather, it's ridin' weather.

Thanks for the input ....Problem solved...after checking wires and connections... I filled up with good old high quality high test took it out on the interstate and ran it in third at 1/4 throttle to let the injectors and the electronics re-set. This was a bit of tech info I remembered from a discussion I heard about a year ago. the steady throttle lets the system loop and adjust itself by reading all the sensors and correcting itself. Now if I could just get the damn turn signals to do that.
