Author Message   Jhanz Posted on Friday, July 07, 2006 - 02:31 pm:        I searched the knowledge vault for topics, but couldn't find anything specifically related. I just switched to Syn3 (engine& primary) on my 06 XB9SX (2400 miles)and have noticed that the bike seems weak. When I apply heavy throttle, it just seems to be lacking the punch that the bike had. What are some symptoms of loss of compression? Check the oil level and think about doing a catch can and rerouting the tubes that blow all the blow-by back into the airbox to be sucked into your motor! I just installed one of the Drummer catch cans and it looks awesome. Haven't been able to road test yet, doing more mods.   Whodom Posted on Friday, July 07, 2006 - 02:47 pm:        It doesn't necessarily indicate "excessive blowby" which would be a symptom of a worn-out engine; they probably just overfilled the oil. It is "self correcting" to some point but the excess oil ends up in the air box. Check the level anyway and drain some if necessary to get it into spec. Also check your air filter and see if it's saturated with oil. That will restrict the airflow considerably and I'll bet that's what's caused your power loss. A new element will take care of it (hopefully supplied for free by your dealer).   Jhanz Posted on Friday, July 07, 2006 - 02:52 pm:        Thanks for the insights! If the scavenging pump has nowhere to put the oil, then some has to stay in the crank case and that's when the trouble starts.
