After reading the exhaust shootout and seeing how well the Latus performed on the 9 I traded my Pro Series pipe with a fellow badwebber for a Latus he had. It really made a huge difference in the midrange rpm...I find myself riding a gear down from what I used to ride for any given situation because it actually pulls well from like 2500 up now. I kinda miss the feeling of the power "coming on" in the higher rpms with the Buell pipe but I guess the only reason I'm not feeling that anymore is because there's power everywhere now. The only major drawback is that the thing is too damn loud...I don't like the thought of putting in earplugs everytime I go for a ride but I don't like ringing ears either...oh well that's the price you pay for power in this case.

Heh...I refused to wear earplugs until I went on the NE Adventure a few years ago...now I literally don't go anywhere without them.

I had a Race Can on my XB9R, traded it for a Drummer...sounds better without being obnoxious and performs better low-mid range. Happy all-around.

How does the Latus compare to the D&D pipe sound-wise? If anyone knows.... Thanks

Latus was included in the exhaust shootout, sound clip is in there.

*thing to remember*
the sound clips were taken in a dyno room, they will sound different in person, but you can still compare to the other clips to see how they differ.

Ya it sounded like the Latus had a slightly different sound, it's funny listening to those audio files because most of 'em sound the same, at least with whatever they recorded them with... Just curious if anyone has had any 1st hand experience with the Latus vs. D&D in person? I'm having a tough time deciding between the two... Thanks again!

I had an XB9R with the Latus and now have a XB12R with the D&D. I really liked the Latus. It was built well, the chrome tips look nice and the sound was pleasing. Power felt smooth across the powerband. The Latus sound is much louder than the Buell race can, with a nice deep rumble to it.

I can't make a performance comparison between the Latus and D&D because I had them on different bikes, but on a 12, the D&D has a decent midrange hit, with just a smidge of perceptable loss on the bottom end. The D&D is MUCH louder than the Latus (though not brain-damage loud like the Force), and has a more percussive, sound to it. Think of the D&D sounding closer to a dragster and the Latus more like a Camaro with glass packs. The D&D is built well and retains jack points (can't remember if the Latus is jackable).

To summarize, both are great products. The D&D would probably appeal to those looking for a (much) louder exhaust.

LOL.. the Latus IS a glasspack! The Edelbrock muffler is was made from has fiberglass inside it, wrapped around the core. So that is why is sounds like a Camaro is glasspacks.

It doesn't really seem much quieter than the D&D to me...my friend's wife has the D&D on her 12 and it sounds relatively the same next to my Latus. They also had the same max. decibel reading in the shootout. I don't know how people live with the sound of the Force without severe hearing loss...it's crazy loud...maybe I've got sensitive ears though??
