Well my local Buell/HD boutique cannot schedule my bike for a tps reset for 2 weeks. There is a dealer bout 60 miles away that can do it tomorrow..........All highway miles if that makes a difference.

Do you think the uncalibrated race ecm would be ok to drive the 60 miles before recal....

or would it be better to keep the stock ecm on with the race exhaust?

Opinions?

I would bring the tools needed to change it out, then just swap them once you get there. Not worth the risk imho.
That is how I did mine, it took me about 5 minutes to swap them out. But that rubber strap over the battery is a royal pain in the ass to put back on.

So what I am hearing is Stock ecm and change it in the parking lot.

So should I worry about the race exhaust for 60 miles worth?????

Anyone ever use that piece of software American Sport Bike sells to reset their TPS? I'm just curious how well it works... Thanks

race exhaust is ok for 60 miles.

Race ECM may run badly, mine wouldn't run at all.

Parking lot change out is SOP.
( That is "Standard Operating Procedure for all you baby boomers out there )

you dont need to pull the battery. I think it was a 3/8 open box end wrench for the two bolts holding the ecm in. Just loosen, while prying the ecm assembely slightly aft, and the two boltys will come out. The first time I installed the ecm I pulled the battery, the second and third time - no way!! Try it in your garage, as practice, before you attempt it in the parking lot if you are not or only slightly mechanically inclined.

The VDST software package works very well.

Al only sells products he believes in 100%

His reputation speaks for itself around here.

I recently encountered this dilema (last week). I left the stock ECM in and just took the Race ECM with me there, handed it to the tech who came and asked for my keys. I ended up paying around 30-40 Euro for a TPS Reset (don't think they charged me for the ECM install, plus they checked over my entire bike for me to make sure I did the service correctly).

They also told me I had to wait 2 months to get an appt. I asked for the service manager when I called and told him my situation (needed 10 minutes of work done) and he was more than happy to help me out. He had me call at a certain time, and when I did he told me to come on in. Mine is 40miles away, all autobahn, but I got lost on the way back... not sure of mileage, but used almost 2 tankfulls trying to find my way home.

I lucked out big time with my race ecm. Like a dumb ass I installed the pipe & filter the instant I got it then called the dealer for a reset appointment. What they gave me was an appointment exactly three weeks from the day.

So.... I let the poor bike sit in the garage. I didn't want to run it lean unless it was to the dealer for reset. The second week I decide to swap the ecm just so I would have the procedure down come appointment day.

well... after swapping the race ecm in I decided to press the starter just to see what would happen (I know, famous last words) & Lo & Behold, she fired right up & idled just fine. The race ecm I got was so very close to where should be that I was able to leave it in. She had a slight stumble upon take off but she ran strong.

I just got tps done this morning & Now everything is perfect.

The wait sucked but the results were worth it.
