Lightening, Uly, or any naked biked bike for that matter, doesn't have the nice, smooth surface of a fairing all over the bike to enable easy wipe offs.

Can anyone recommend the extreme lazy mans products to BOTH clean off and THEN make future clean ups super way easy?

You know like a super slick spray you can recommend to put on all over the annoying cracks and crevasses which bugs like to splatter into which are really hard to get to and a pain to clean.

plexus or honda spray cleaner for spot cleaning.

I use an automotive car wash soap to wash it, and meguiars tech wax.

I clean the black wrinkle coat and wheels with "Kit" bike wash.

Wash it with soapy water, rinse it with clean water. Stopped worrying too much about what they look like about 10 to 15 years and several thousands of miles ago...

S100. Spray it on, hose it off. S100 wheel cleaner to take the black stuff off the wheels. Spray it on, let it sit for ten minutes, hose it off. Wipe it down with a chamois to get most of the water off, then take it for a spin. Works like a dream!

Lemon scent joy or palmolive in a bucket with a soft sponge and a lil bit of elbow grease. A nice soft cloth to dry with, then a nice coat of wax does me good. I hate scrubbing them damn gold wheels, but man do they look good (bling, bling) when they are clean. We get lotsa looks when we cruise the beach or wherever we go. Not the same ole me too bikes, ya know?

I am with StealthXB. With 20 out of 27 days of rain here in NY, i have done quite a bit of riding in the rain. Unlike some of my friends I more for riding than spending all day cleaning and buffing it till every part shines. In fact I make fun of my brother since I got my bike In January, him last september. He has 2200 or so miles, and I just rolled past 3300, but he has probably spent 40+ hours polishing and cleaning his : )

How does anybody keep the 03 wheels(bare metal) clean? I sprayed some brake dust cleaner that was supposed to be spray on and rinse off on them and it just ran everywhere and stuck in place so I had streaks everywhere after i rinsed. They look worse now than before.

When I wash the bike, I use a rag soap and fingers to get the wheels clean. If you want to go crazy, use a toothbrush and follow it up with some mag wheel cleaner. But really, the spray on hose off stuff is crap. You're gonna have to bend over to do it right. I try to keep 'em clean, but don't go too crazy, they're just going to get dirty again and whizzing by, who's gonna see 'em anyway?

I'm too lazy to spend all day cleaning. The high pressure wand at the car wash gets all them dead bugs off pretty quick. : )

Lemon pledge is great all over the bike for in between washings. Even the dollar store stuff works pretty well.

been using Kit brand bike wash to keep them clean.

I use Simple Green and a rag, sometimes a brush if I feel up to it. Always looks good to me when I'm finished. Cuts right thru the brake dust( let it sit for three or four minutes) Use spray bottle (straight) on wheels. Mixed in bucket for plastic.............Charlie

You might try a hermetically sealed box filled with helium to store your bike and the box also makes a dandy stand for your widescreen TV.

I've found Dawn or Palmolive work pretty fair for general road muck. Cleaning brake dust is still pretty labor intensive as I am looking for something that cuts the grime without trashing the powdercoat. For all the black bits, I use either a silicone protective spray or Mother's Protective spray. The Mother's is for car dashboards and vinyl seats and is pretty cool in that it doesn't leave a slimy nasty mess like Armoral or most silicone sprays.

I use the waterless method once a week.
Start by getting all the loose stuff off with a mini California duster so it doesn't get ground in or cause swirl marks. I then spray down all plastics with Plexus, let it sit for a minute or two and then wipe it off with a microfiber towel. I use Plexus to clean the engine, frame, swingarm, forks and muffler as well but instead of dealing with overpsray I liberally apply it to a towel or soft brush and then follow up with a clean dry towel. I use Qtips and WD40 to get the dirt out of the allen head bolts.
The rims get cleaned with Mothers aluminum paste and plenty of hard work. Once you have used the Plexus a few times it seems that bugs and such almost slide off the next time you go to clean it.
Takes about 3 hours per week but I have the cleanest 03' in my neighborhood LOL! Feel free to rag on me. My cleaning habits are the brunt of many jokes amongst the local riders.

Hatchet,
Plexus is some awesome stuff! I'm tellin' ya' that the bugs just slide right off after a few uses. Doesn't leave a funky residue like Armor All either so you can use it on your seat.
You should be able to find it at your nearest import bike shop.
Keep her clean brother and to heck with everybody raggin' on ya' .

I usually use Mr. Clean rinse it, switch to soap, use mit, rinse again, rinse with drying agent, go ride. Still haven't found a good way to wash them wheels though.

How does anybody keep the 03 wheels(bare metal) clean?

Powder coated them black! I too ride mine all the time, so cleaning is kinda a waste( I'd be cleaning everyday!). I also stop at the local car wash about 3-4 times a season and spray her down.

When I first got the XB, I would regularly wsh it using the KIT carwash, and a good rim brush. But as life goes on, I find the bike way too much fun.
